A group of 8 of my friends and I did the Cooking with Poo cooking class last week while visiting Thailand. This was our first time in Bangkok and we only had three days to site-see and explore.... A friend recommended the class and said it wouldn't disappoint.... and boy was he right!! We went to China town, MBK, the temple, Buddha,etc... and the cooking class was our most memorable experience.

"Poo" picks the groups up in a nice area of town (a hotel lobby) and drives you to the Bangkok market. If you are with a large group, make sure that you stand close to her, otherwise it can be hard to hear her in the market. They market was an eye-opening cultural experience. We sampled some interesting food items, she told us how Thai people prepare unique items (i.e. roaches) and we purchased a few fresh items for our class.

Next she drove us to her cooking school. The location is in the middle of the "slums" but rest assured, the school is incredibly clean. We watched her assistants santize everything before and after our use.

Poo made cooking Thai food easy and fun. Several of my friends purchased "I cooked with Poo and I liked it" aprons after the class.

Cooking with Poo - a fun title and a fun day was in store for us.
The day was very well organised, meeting to leave promptly at 8:30 with an hour tour of the local Klong Toey/Toei market, seeing bags of frods, exotic insects, and fabulous fruits.
A quick trip to the small cooking school, in the converted front rooms of a house in the Kong-Toey community (which in itself was an interesting part of the day), and we were ready for 3 very simple but well known and well loved Thai dishes.
The results were great, and the enthusiasm of Khun Poo was infectious.
We finished at 12:30.
Wash/toilet facilities were good.

Recommend:
- be on time.
- good shoes for the market walk.
- light clothes (it gets hot coking with no air-con)
- camera
- for friends, families, couples !

Great market experience

We did a Thursday cooking class with Poo. The directions to the pickup area were accurate and the transport to pick us up was on time and efficient. Poo is a great lady and quiet the friendly chatter. We were first taken to the market in the morning and it was an eventful place, plenty of photo opportunities, def not something you would see everyday. But we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We headed off to the cooking school which was a short drive from the market. The menu is very basic, all we did was chop a onion and herbs and threw in the chopped meat or in our case the tofu gave it a stir and it was cooked. I guess that’s how thai food is cooked, very simple and basic. Before you know it the class is over. My expectations for the cooking class was high and I expected to take away some useful cooking tips and hints but this wasn’t the case. Nevertheless you pay for what you get and this was one of the cheaper cooking classes however it was a different experience and worth a try once.

What a great day! My friends and I all live in Bangkok and have had many new and great experiences here but I would say that Cooking with Poo has been my favourite so far, I really can't recommend it enough. The visit to the market is an eye opener with Poo and her colleague explaining Thai ingredients very well. Then, back to Poo's place where she lives with her family to start the cooking. We cooked prawn curried noodles, chicken with holy basil and spicy beef salad. It was all explained very well, very easy to do and tasted arroy (delicious)! Poo is an inspiring lady who has worked very hard to get to where she is today and puts it back into her community. Tell your friends and family - this is a must do in Bangkok. Thanks to Poo and her team for a really great day.

Hello, this thai cooking lesson is simply great!
You will learn how to cook at home delicious thai recipes with all small tips to make it happen as in a restaurant at home but also, doing this course, you will share with Poo's team a great moment, can ask any question on strange vegetables and fruits from Thailand, visit the biggest market to buy your ingredients... a genuine thai culture experience more insightfull than any other visit in bangkok.
Last but not least, you help people to get a better living as Poo's team and company revenues go partly to association for better living in the slam and so on!
