The entrance to City House is in the middle of the really busy clothes wholesale market down at the end of Soi Phetchaburi 19. Your taxi/tuctuc driver won't be able to find it, get out on Phetchaburi Road and walk, it will be quicker.
The entrance has a decent sign but is mixed in with one of the clothing stores, the receptionist was friendly enough and found our booking straight away, the lift worked, the stairs were used as a storage area.
Objectively, we could tell the room was clean because of the smell of disinfectant. We did not hear or see any traces of insects. The lights, door lock, air-con, shower and toilet all worked fine, the TV did not, we didn't try the fridge. Clean towels, soap and bottled water were provided.
The room was very shabby, with an old office style hanging ceiling, years-old flooring, paintwork and bed, and several bodged up repairs to various bits of it. The double bed was very, very bouncy, we only had to twitch to disturb each other.
We only stayed one night, as planned, but we got out of there first thing in the morning and, whilst it may just be snobbery, we will never ever go back there.

OMG - this is one of the worst hotels that I have stayed in. The rooms are terrible, mouldy, smoky and the conditions is absolutely horrible. It stinks to be exact. It is located in a very dark alley and nothing seemed to work the very moment you set foot into this property. Avoid at all cost if you do not want to spoil your holiday. It is one of the worst nightmares you can encounter.

By far the worst hotel I have ever seen. Mistakenly booked this hotel from hell which is down a dark ally. It is more of a warehouse than a hotel and the walls and floors are mouldy in the rooms. The rooms are also full of cigarette smoke. Naturally we complained and were shown two other mouldy, smoky stinky rooms. Left an hour after we arrived. DO NOT GO. If you want to see more awful reviews you can see them under the hotels former name 'City Home'. You have been warned!
