“Great Hotel, Excellent Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2012

Stayed in a deluxe room at the Dawin and really liked the place. The room was big, clean, and comfortable and the staff is quite friendly. The location is really the best part. There is no shortage of great bars/restaurants and things to see and do within walking distance and the Nana BTS train stop is right there for everything else. Breakfast is not included but there is a cafe on the first floor that serves decent meals and drinks. It is probably not a good hotel for families, but is a great option for couples and solo travelers. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Bangkok.

We stayed here 3 nights in a deluxe room. The room itself was of reasonable size, clean and with a comfortable bed, no view to really speak of. The bathroom was of good size with marble like tiling and also clean. The swimming pool was a let down, quite small in size, no umbrellas for shade and had to ring to reception for pool towels. Breakfast was not included in the room price but was reasonably priced. Their coffee was the best we had in Thailand. Ate lunch there once and everything seemed to be deep fried and oily, not the best meal we have eaten by a long stretch. Did like the outdoor alfresco area to sit and watch the world go by. All the staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful. This hotel seems popular with males and probably not the place for families. Although I have no real criticism of The Dawin other than the pool, we would not likely stay there again.

Suprising quiet overall considering how close it was to the nightlife. The rooms are small but comfortable. For the price of the standard room, you can probably find better elsewhere but I would come back again in the future to give it another go in a bigger room as those were not really worth knocking the hotel for without seeing what else they can offer. The standard room stand in shower was a bit cramped and the room was barely big enough to move around in. The rooms were clean, staff was pleasant, food downstairs was ok, and just a short walk to about anywhere you want to go.

Made a booking in person while staying elsewhere in Bangkok (Hope Land Executive Residence) as I happened to be visiting an over seas friend also staying at the Darwin.
The hotel is situated right in the heart of a busy street consisting of bars and restaurants and there are abundance of ladies of the night looking for business just off Sukhumvit Road which becomes alive after night fall.

The hotel has a pleasant lobby with a bar and restaurant serving meals drinks etc 24x7 and never seems to close and is also competing with the many restaurants etc near by. Thus the prices are quite moderate and the food and service is good.

The room is quite spacious, clean and has a fridge and 32" flat screen TV with a number of channels including the BBC & CNN. The shower is excellent and the room overlooks some building and an adjacient street.

The reception staff are quite friendly and helpful. The room charge per night was Bhat 1950 and excludes breakfast. This is quite steep but the hotel is right in the heart of where everything is so there is no need to use taxi cabs etc. The shopping Malls like MBK & the IT Mall is walkable from the hotel. There is a tiny swimming pool on the top balcony but seems to be crowded. The hotel is ok for a short stay of a few days. Due to the locality I would recommend the Darwin but only for a very short stay.

In the middle of all of the action and entertainment. Staff is great, very helpful. Prices fair. Clean but small rooms. Will definitely stay there again. Busy street off Sumkumvit. Not for children necessarily. Close to most everything, entertainment, tailors, good restaurants.

RM

Room Tip: All rooms pretty good and noise insulated.
