We had the elaborate set menu and was not disappointed at all. We chose the garden room where we had the full view of the garden. The restaurant is set in a homely atmosphere, the ambience was breathtaking. I definitely recommend others to visit the restaurant.

Husband and I made reservations for dinner after receiving multiple recommendations from fellow travelers. We were so excited and are so thrilled to have experienced Sühring! The food quality, the service, and the ambiance are well worth the price.

We did the 12 course tasting menu (see pictures) and were thoroughly impressed with the variety and uniqueness of the menu.

Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience unique German flavors!

Ok, quite daring to open a german restaurant in one of the food capitals of the world (its almost like opening a Dutch restaurant in Singapore). The thai food on the streets and in the more upper class restaurants is hard to beat. And to be honest - Suhring does not beat those (at least not in our taste palet). But if you look at this as a supplement rather than competition, it is a great choice to broaden your experiece and some of the dishes they serve are simply spectacular (like the herring). Also the wine options are at least at par with the best if not exceeding them. Few points of criticism: the wine pairing with menu only starts after the starters - that surprised us highly and should have been mentioned (not in the least because fish needs to swim). Secondly, some of the starters lacked wow (like the mushroom puff). But otherwise a great experience in a beautiful villa. Go if you can (and like fine dining). Staff was great and attentive.

Went there during a weekend trip. The food is a true delight. Compared with the price of fine dining in other major cities around such as hk and Tokyo, the price is a bargain. Did not opt for the wine pairing but choose the full seasonal menu. The presentation and and taste are superb. The pigeon is memorable.

Michelin has shed stars on Bangkok restaurants at the end of 2017. Curious how this would work out we visited several of them and found that in some cases it was fully deserved but in others totally inexplicable how they got these honours. Sühring is one of the restaurants awarded a star and since we had long time plans to go there, this was another reason.
The restaurant is a little bit outside of central Bangkok. The dining room, where we were seated, has a rather standard interior. The music was loud (I first thought there was some live performance somewhere) but turned down upon request. When the room is full the acoustics are poor, much echo and reflection. There is a view of the garden, but in the evening you cannot see anything outside.
The menu has two tasting varieties, but there were so many things we did not understand or that did not seem attractive at first sight that we decided not to put our money on that and go for à la carte. The menu is mostly in German, rather pedantic. Of course it is a German restaurant, but would a Thai customer or Chinese, Korean or American tourist have any idea what to imagine under “Obaztdaröllchen”, “Entenleber & Buchteln” or “Brotzeit”? Even I as a German speaker was having a hard time here. In a Chinese restaurant you don’t get the menu in characters, so it would have helped to give some translation or explication. Then there was the logistical problem of what to order being three people. Two of the four main dishes were for 2 persons only so what does the third person do, being left with only two choices.
We finally ordered a pork knuckle for the three of us, assuming this would be a kind of signature dish. This would take about 40-45 minutes to serve. We had river prawn salad as an appetizer, nice but nothing extraordinary. The prawns were just lukewarm. I have had pork knuckle many times in many places in Germany and I remember it as a well done dish where the meat almost falls off the bone when you lift it up. Not this one. After 45 minutes of cooking the meat was still on the raw side and not tender at all. As a wine we chose a Spätburgunder, not one I would choose again. After this we decided not to go for one of the desserts with names like “Our Gin & Tonic” (isn’t that a cocktail?), “Yogurette” or “Sanddorn & Karotte”.
It must be said that the waitresses did their very best, were friendly and efficient. But after being set back € 200 euros for this somewhat simple dinner we did not feel like we had had value for money. All in all our high expectations turned into a disappointment.
