Stayed here for four nights in March 2011.

The pictures here on the website are very accurate. The hotel is located in walking distance to Khao San Road and in slightly longer walking distance to Wat Phra Kew and Wat Pho.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When I left very early in the morning, the woman at the desk called me a taxi, spoke to the driver to ensure the cost of the trip, and stood there and waved goodbye as the taxi drove off. Small gesture, but it was very nice.

Rooms were great. Everything worked perfectly.

My only complaint would be the location. It's a bit far out from the Skytrain, which is helpful for getting around. A taxi to the nearest Skytrain station is about $1.50 USD and takes about 20 minutes so it's not that big of a deal.

When getting a taxi back to the hostel, be sure you have a map or better yet, just a picture of the nearby Democracy Monument. You'll be able to guide the taxi from there. It was occasionally difficult to get a taxi back to the hotel that would use the meter (as opposed to charging an exorbitant fare), but it was fine.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hostel. I enjoyed my stay here!

baan dinso is described as hostel and i find that to be an unusal monikker, but whatever this place rocks. my family of 4 arrived at 2 in the morning, not my favorite arrival time, but baan dinso was ready and waiting. i don't know what your name was overnight lady but you were awesome and were so helpful on so many occasions you made our trip wonderful. greeted in the middle of the night by a centerpiece of flowers floating in a bowl of water, total zen.
the kids stayed upstairs in a sparkling 2 twin room overlooking the breakfast area. clean white sheets immaculate floors and shared bathroom down the hall, i could go on about the rooms and they were fantastic. the views not so great , we were in a back alley off a busy street, but you will hear very little noise.
the fruit smoothies should not be missed. we tried every variety but i must say the mango was so yummy and filled with antioxidant richness, i felt great after every one. and the cook makes a fantastic green chicken curry, it was so rich. breakfasts changed little but the quality and freshness were top notch.
the kids painted doorstops with the owner a beautiful thai woman who must have ruled that hotel with an iron fist, as all staff members worked tirelessly all day keeping the place spotless, helped fellow travelers with anything they needed, made suggestions of where to go, what to eat , how to get there. i can't say enough about the staff they were terrific.
only a 10 minute walk from khao san road you can be transported from the tranquility of baan dinso to the loudness and excitement of this fantastic place with fun shopping great food and a feel good vibe. we visited every night we were in bangkok and we had a good time every time. the kids got henna tattoos, we bought t-shirts, we had a family fish massage. the girls got mani pedis, my son and i got foot massages it was fun for all.
the list goes on and on, but this is about baan dinso. great place to stay, professional staff, great food and fruit smoothies. dedicated owner clean, so clean you can eat off the floors.

Baan Dinso is a lovely oasis in the midst of hectic Bangkok. It may be called a hostel, but is far above any hostel I've ever stayed at. This charming B&B features lovingly restored rooms, great amenities, and a staff that is fantastic. The cafe serves up excellent food if you need to supplement the vast offerings of the local street stalls and restaurants. I'd like a Thai breakfast offering. Easy to catch a cab to anywhere, or explore the area on foot. Outside the normal tourist areas, so you get a pretty good feel for a Bangkok neighborhood.
The single drawback is the cats. During the day all is well, but at night be prepared for some robust howling or the occasional fight. Yes, they'll provide earplugs should you desire, but after the first night I preferred to get up, go out and shoo the offenders away.
For a few days stay, it's local color, for longer stays it could become annoying.
But I'd certainly stay here again, and wholeheartedly recommend it!
