Owner description: At 509 meters high, this was the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2010, when the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it. The tower is reminiscent of a pagoda or a stalk of bamboo and designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes common in Taiwan. Floors one through five are a shopping center and both the indoor (89th floor) and outdoor (91st floor) observation decks offer a 360-degree panoramic view.

“Well done and a must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2012

This is an iconic building for Taipei and a must see for tourists. We went on a weekday evening and the queue moved really quick even though it looked quite long. Tickets are relatively cheap and the views are great. The elevator ride itself is impressive and the speed of its operation.

The views are fantastic from the tower and seeing the way they built it to withstand an earthquake is really impressive, including the suspended ball in the centre to prevent swaying of the tower. There are free headsets to give you a narration of the building which was quite interesting.

Worse part were the tacky stores selling red coral jewellery (of all things) and the rude and aggressive mainland Chinese and Korean tourist groups (and their leaders with megaphones).
All in all, a must see in Taipei!

“Impressive, but make sure the weather is good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2012

Very impressive architecture and the smoothest 80-something storey elevator ride you will ever experience. Just make sure the weather is reasonably clear, otherwise you will see nothing but gray clouds.

“Tall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

It may now only be the second tallest tower in the world but is still breathtaking from the 89th and 91st floors. The mall is great to peruse but don't expect to buy anything as its populated only by the highest shelf vendors (Armani, Mont Blanc, etc.) from around the world.
