“Value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

Good:
1) Good location - just 2 mins away to the nearest MRT station Da'an; 15 mins walking to the two big Sogo department stores; and it costed less than TWD150 to travel to places like Taipei Train station and the famous Yongkang Street by cab
2) Friendly staff - the staff especially those at the reception are very young and friendly. They are always pleased to help
3) Comfy room - the room size is very adequate and it's very clean inside. The beds are comfy too.

Bad:
1) Disappointing breakfast - limited selection of food, the taste is not impressive either

Booked a Taipei-101 view room for the countdown to 2012 and had no regrets at all. My room on the 20th floor indeed had an excellent view of Taipei 101 and this was perfect for watching the fireworks display on 01/01!

On arrival, I was greeted with genuine sincerity by the duty manager as well as the front desk staff. Check-in was efficient and smooth. The room was very spacious, well-maintained and well-equipped. The only thing which I was a little perturbed with is that the door to the balcony was locked and on checking with the front desk, the staff mentioned that it has been locked for security reasons as each balcony is shared by two rooms. I find this a little absurb and this architectural fault has rendered the spacious balcony useless. If there's access to the balcony, the viewing of the fireworks would have been even more spectacular!

Buffet breakfast served at ground-floor cafe had sufficient food choice and variety. There was also ample seating at the cafe.

The location of the hotel was excellent not just because it afforded guests with Taipei-101 view but also because it's a stone's throw away from Da'an Metro Station. Guests are just about a hundred feet away from the station and you will find yourself at Taipei-101 (Taipei City Hall area) or Mitsukoshi ShinKong Dept Store (Taipei Main Station area) in minutes. The Sogo Dept Store is in fact just one metro stop away!

In summary, this is an excellent hotel worthy of consideration, whether it's for business or leisure. The staff had excellent disposition and the hotel location's nothing to beat!

Room Tip: Make sure you book a Taipei-101 view as you won't be disappointed with the view of this landmark...

good points: nice sized bathrooms with separate shower and bathtub, japanese-style bidets, 2nd floor lounge with free coffee and munchies and an osim massage chair in fitness centre. Next to Da An MRT station, Starbucks & Family Mart. New decor, tasteful, flatscreen TV and DVD player
Bad points: housekeeping dirty and very dusty for such a new hotel (we were on 17th Floor), location a little off from Sogo and main shopping areas, pricing was very inflexible for me and no room or flexible upgrade even though we paid the full internet price (other similar hotels much more generous). Beds were too hard. Toilet seat not that clean at all!
Overall: pretty nice hotel but needs to work on the cleaning and pricing.

Room Tip: You want to be on the Taipei 101 side or above 10th floor on the MRT side or the MRT will be too noi...

Now let me start this review by saying that Taiwanese people are some of the NICEST people I have encountered while traveling (the Thai people are pretty up there too)

Park Taipei is 1/2 block from the Da'an station (junction of brown and red lines). Also on your way to the Da'an station from the hotel is a Starbucks, with a nice sitting area on the 2nd floor.

The hotel itself is more of a boutique hotel (vs the larger chains), with attentive staff. We arrived late and were checked in with no hassles. The room was a king bed room (I think their idea of a king bed is even larger than ours in the States, which is odd since every other bed is smaller). We had a view room of Taipei 101, but with the clouds, not always easy to see. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and modern.

A couple of downsides to the hotel...

1. They only had a landline (no wifi), but luckily we had our Apple Airport Express, which created wifi from the landline (any of you frequent travelers out there...this is a MUST!)

2. For some reason, their telephone lines got mixed up, and we were constantly woken and bothered by people calling from other rooms thinking we were the front desk. When we told the front desk, all they offered for all of our troubles was a room change with no compensation. Instead of packing up all of our stuff at the end of very long sightseeing days, we simply unplugged the phones. Problem solved.

It is nice that they provide 2 free bottles of water everyday with service. That was great after a long day of walking around.

Overall, I would definitely stay there again. It was quite convenient to all attractions, including the Electronics Warehouse, Jade market, and many others.

Got here, impressed, told I had been given a room upgrade. Great. Got to my room on the 17th floor, wonderful. Went to the loo. Yuk! Loo seat was filthy and I was almost sick, how on earth could a hotel of this standard miss this during the housekeeping check??? Rang reception, it got cleared up fairly quickly but bleurghhh! What a horrible start to my stay.
Executive lounge was awful, hot water for tea etc was cold, poor supply of biscuits etc, and the coffee machine didn't work until a member of staff came out to pour himself a cup and couldn't get one. Don't offer the service if you aren't up to scratch.
Lack of wifi in rooms is a total pain and hardly fitting of 21st century living. If you can offer it in the lobby, you can offer it in the rooms. Don't bother offering me a cable when I have an iPad, I ended up skyping my family from the lobby, luckily it was quiet or I wouldn't have been able to.
So.....needs improvement. Could be great, the rooms are really nice, as are the staff (great doorman, really friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough to help me with luggage, taxis etc).
My first time to Taipei so I don't know about the competition, but I imagine this hotel will have to work harder to keep up.
