I went to attend a conference and this hotel was nearest to the venue. I had a comfortable stay, the staff was friendly. In lunch I had the veg. thali of Nepali authentic cuisine which was really good.

Kathmandu is a busy, bustling city with many hotels. The Royal Singi stands out as a place where the staff genuinely care about their guests. Nothing is too much trouble at the front desk, which somehow manages to combine old world charm with modern efficiency.
The location of Singi is spectacular. It's right in the heart of the central District, packed with coffee shops, restaurants, quaint retail and outdoor sports shops. It's a short can ride from the airport.
The staff here had a car ready to greet me on arrival at the airport, which was a really nice touch.
My room was modernized with a great bathroom and a clean and comfortable bed.
I can't wait to come back next time.

I have stayed here every five or six years or so since the hotel was built, and for what it is, it never lets me down. Once they had to take down a wall to cut open a personal safe for me, because I'd lost the key, and there seem to be people on hand at every hour of the day or night for food, laundry, or fixing the air conditioning and plumbing! Having said that, I think that in some ways the earthquake was a blessing in disguise for the hotel, as it was getting a bit tired, and the complete refurbishment that was required has sharpened up the facilities really well. Whether they know you or not, the staff seem to welcome you as if you were a personal friend, and, unlike some hotels where lots of little hidden extras seem to end up on your bill at the end of your stay, here they are often just part of the service. I also like its situation, because Thamel is not the only place worth being in Kathmandu, and the Royal Singi is quite well placed for walking further south and out to the developing east of the city.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north overlook a courtyard and the Yak and Yeti, on the south the busy Teendhara Marg, so a bit noisier.

The Royal Singi Hotel is located in a more upscale area of Kathmandu. The hotel is quite modern and large. The rooms are adequate in size, quiet and clean. The beds are comfortable. The Wi-Fi in the rooms is very good and reliable. The room are air conditioned, but a bit stuffy. The bathrooms are clean and work relatively well, although the water does not stay within the shower bounds when bathing. The breakfasts are fantastic. The lattes are as well. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard to sit, relax and have breakfast or a mid afternoon coffee. The staff are very friendly and proficient. The hotel is undergoing renovations and during the first visit there was a fair amount of construction dust in the air within our room. I would suggest asking for a room well away from the construction.

As a 20 yr old property, preventative maintenance and upgrades has been our priority and we have been taking numerous strides in such matters. We will definitely look into the shower issue. We sincerely apologize for the dust due to our on-going works but we are also pleased to inform you that our new restaurant is now ready and hence this stops the discussed construction works.

It would be our pleasure to welcome you back during your next visit to Kathmandu so our friendly & proficient team can serve you breakfast and latte in our beautiful courtyard.
