I stayed here for 5 weeks volunteering! This place became my home away from home! And I wouldn’t have chosen anywhere different. Room is cleaned everyday, there’s a seperate room to lock up valuables and only you will have the key, Wifi is best down stairs in the lobby if you connect to worldlink, good range of breakfast included, rooftop garden, pick and drop off service from the airport, spacious deluxe rooms, lonely planet recommended Tibetan restaurant downstairs... the list goes on! Do yourself and favour and meet the lovely staff!

Delicacies are delicious in this Tibetan establishment.
Traditional Tibetan "beer" might be the healthiest of all beers. And it rechargeable with hot water. A good alternative to watermelon against alcoholism?

We have stayed several times at the Utse, the last being twice late last year. As usual, our stay was a highlight of the trip to Nepal. The rooms are nice, the restaurant lovely, interesting and great food and best of all, the staff and owners are very friendly, supportive and more than happy to go out of their way to help you.
Room tip: I found all the rooms good.

Amazing (quiet) location right in Thamel. This hotel is definitely worth staying at. The double bed with attached hot shower/toilet was very comfortable. The owners and staff always greet you with a smile and Namaste. The food is second to none!! It has a tradition local feel (perhaps being the first Tibitan restaurant in Nepal many years ago helps) rather than a standard starc hotel you find elsewhere. Top quality place. Go on stay there, you know you want to.
Room tip: Our room was 304!! windows with A/C just being installed

Full disclosure, we didn’t stay at the hotel, but did stop at the restaurant for some authentic Nepalese cuisine and it was the best we had in the whole country.
Definitely try the Gyakok hot pot dish. It was more food than we needed for two people, but so good we couldn’t stop eating!
