Great temple by the looks and weirdly moving and intimate to watch the cremation ceremonies. It has the potential to improve a tabooed western attitude towards death and mourning.

The site itself is very interesting as you get to see the holy men around some of the temples. However once you got close to the holy river, it was hard to ignore the strong smell from the live cremation that is performed there. The experience itself was interesting but it was quiet overwhelming to see the burning of the bodies.

I recently visited to Pashupatinath temple In Kathmandu. Temple is very beautiful, also the incarnation is taken place behind the temple. When I was in Kathmandu the temperature was very cold which was around 14 degree celcius in the morning. I really feel very pleasant atmosphere. Also I visited narayanhiti durbar but unfortunately it is closed on Tuesday & Wednesday so I missed. I will again visit to this place.

I went to Nepal with my maa. I really like the Pashupatinath Temple (Gaushala). Also cold atmosphere which was 14 degree Celsius in morning. Also I visited the Narayanhity Palace, unfortunately it was closed on Tuesday & Wednesday so due to less time I missed. Only negative thing is pollution you the wear the mask due to dust. But overall experience was very nice I want to go again...

Not being Hindu, this was very strange yet fascinating. This location is a long a holy river. This site is also a place of pilgrimage as well as cremation. To understand and appreciate what you are saying, a guide is most worthwhile. As a tourist, we were able to walk along one side of the river and watch several cremations taking place. The wrapped bodies, after being anointed by water from the river, are placed on wooden Logs and straw is placed around the body. We observed as various rituals were taking place.
