We stayed for two nights on our excellent Swallow Tail tour for three. This was our first hotel in Bhutan and it was excellent. The staff were gentle and polite. Both the public rooms and our rooms were very clean and attractive. There was a lift to our second floor rooms which were very spacious with large very comfortable beds, large flat screen television, safe, fridge, tea making, desk and chair, lounge and coffee table. The bathroom was convenient with a shower over a bath. There was a hair dryer, toiletries and a make-up mirror. The water was hot, although it did see-saw from warm to hot in the shower. Still I was in the Himalayas and it was -2C outside so I was not complaining.
On the ground floor there was a bar and a large attractive restaurant where we had both breakfasts and dinners. The food was fresh, varied and tasty. The portions were very generous and the service was courteous and attentive.
Thimphu is a ‘city’ which is growing rapidly along the main road. The only down side of this hotel for us was that it was located too far from the centre of town for us to walk in. This was not a problem for us really as in January, although the days were lovely and sunny, by the evening it was too cold for us to be outdoors anyway.More
