Stayed here for just one ngiht on my way to Juba... Nothing great to share...
The room is not spaciaous, rather a little small... there were ,ot of ants in the room, specially near the Work table.. and they kept crawling on my hand and laptop... There was Coffee maker int he room but they were out of creamer or milk powder for the entire day...
The building looks like a Govt. office from outside...
Breakfast was good and so was coffee from the restaurant...
Staff was well behaved and helpfull... Spa is ok, but usually gets crowded in the evening...
I took a one hour massage whic was OK, nothing great, but relatively cheaper as well...

Housed in an unattractive building, but at least in well kept and beautiful gardens, the Sheraton is a comfortable space away from the bustle of Kampala. There's a good gym and a few shops including an interesting antique jewelry store. The bakery needs a wider range of produce, and the same can be said for the limited range of products at the small general store - for example, washing powder. Laundry prices are ridiculous – $8 to wash a pair of jeans and $6 for a shirt. The rooms are fine, although still a mix of dated and refurbished items. One can do without the noise from the bar downstairs, which includes nightly overly loud 'entertainment'. Being an SPG doesn't seem to guarantee a room on the SPG floors. There is not much of a range of options for food, and the service is very very slow, but staff are friendly. Be sure to check cab fares before setting out - around 25-30k shillings is reasonable for a one way trip around town - and traffic means trips can take a long time. A few cabbies tried their luck at 40k.

Room Tip: Perhaps pick the side away from the downstairs bar if you want to get some sleep.

What a disaster!

My coke has just arrived after 20 minutes. The bar is 8 metres away where I just watched the staff clean cutlery with bare hands and no soap. I ordered a salad which was two slices of tomato and two slices of cucumber with some lettuce. .

Last time it took 40 minutes to order and there were only 4 people in the bar. I was told that there was no coffee after a further 30 minutes. I reordered and then got the coffee I originally ordered. My friends drink never arrived.

I live in Kampala and The Sheraton here is nothing compared to those I have visited in other destinations.

What a mess of service. Not to mention the general upkeep of the place.

Day 1 of a 7 day business trip and so far I'm not impressed. I attempted to take a bath before bed and the water came out brown. They sent a technician to but I opted to change rooms, since all the technician did was let the water run. The water pressure in the new room is non existent, the fridge doesn't work and I think I'm on the "loud" side of the hotel. I can hear music and a lot of banging coming from the parking lot. Hoping tmrw the front desk will give me one of the newer rooms (I believe one reviewer said 9th floor and above) on the "quiet" side. Otherwise it's going to be a long week.

Tom van Tuijl if you're out there reading this can you please hook me up with a decent room?
