In March of 2019 we did a 7 day gorilla/chimp tour with our guide Dan. We made quite some changes to the original initiatory to suit our travel needs, and we always got a fast reaction to all of our mails.
We were picked up from Entebbe airport and first had 3 days for our self in Kampala. then we did our safari. The lodges were beautiful (much better then we expected). And our guide was really kind.
We had the option to be dropped of in Kigali (Rwanda) after the safari had ended so we would have some days there as well.
In the end we're really happy we choose Kisoro!
I spent two amazing weeks working in Kisoro this year and gorilla trekking was on my list to do while I was there. I contacted few big international agencies and all of them tried to sell me 3 - 4 days trips starting in Entebbe or Kigali, while I was based about an hour from Bwindi National Park and wanted one day trip. Then I found Dan and nothing was a problem. He secured my permit, arranged driver and provided me with all info I needed for the day. He also recommended other things to do and was in touch with me during my stay. Unfortunately I had no time for other trips but when I return, Dan will be the guy to go to.
The day itself was amazing. We had a briefing in the morning and we were split to groups. Each group went to see one family. Trek was quite easy at the beginning, until we reached the forest. We had guy with machete making a way and it was like something you see in a movie. I would definitely recommend taking local porter with you. They have done it thousand times and can guide you through it. We found gorillas in about an hour (we were really lucky, we were back at park entrance before any of the other groups reached their families) and spent an hour with them. They are really chilled, just going on with their day and completely ignoring you. We watched them eating, playing and then, having sex! I will be back in 9 months for christening :)
Dan from Kisoro tours helped us plan a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Bwindi for gorilla trekking, and to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a private safari. We couldn't have asked for a better experience: Dan was very responsive and helped us select the best options for our budget and requirements, and he was also a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Our highlight was when on the last day, he simply did not give up until we had discovered lions in Kasenyi. We would recommend Dan and Kisoro Tours to anyone, and in fact already have.
Thank you so much Elisabeth for choosing Kisoro Tours Uganda Ltd, and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your safari exploring Uganda Rwanda with us,. and also thank you for recommending your parents to book their Uganda gorilla trekking safari with Kisoro Tour.
Flew to Entebbe the night before the Gorilla trek. Accommodation at the outdoor tent (budget trip) was very nice! We stayed in that place for 2 nights. Following morning we began the trek early morning, suggestions for clothing, long pants to avoid the ants from crawling in, good camera, decent walking shoes, (sneakers with a good sole are okay). The overall experience of the trekking was amazing, a bit rigorous if you're out of shape, but very beautiful scenery. Dan was overall a great leader, very attentive to satisfying our needs. The third night we stayed at a different location. For a budget trip, the place was okay, it's a small lodge and the fan wasn't that strong for the room, the bathroom situation was also a little odd, but it's understandable for budget. The fish we had for dinner that night at the small lodge was very good though. From there we drove to Queen Elizabeth National Park and we were able to see a lion. There was a lot of driving involved which we were aware of, so for those who'd rather cut out that time, I would suggest flying into Kigali if visiting Bwindi. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the gorilla trek the most, and the packed lunches for out trip from the tent/lodge were very good. Dan is also easily accessible when you reach out to him with questions which is a plus.
Kisoro tours helped us plan a wonderful 8 day trip with gorilla treks, chimpanzee trek, a drive through Queen Elizabeth NP and a 3 day trek of Rwenzori. Plans had to be changed in the last minute due to troubles in Congo which was also part of our itinerary. Dan was efficient and quick with his emails, adjusting to our needs and the last minute changes were smooth and went without a hitch. Definitely recommend them.
This is the full story to our trip.

In April 2016 Tracey and I booked a 14 day safari with Kisoro tours. We had paid and rearing to go when I had an accident, We contacted Dan and postponed our trip by a year. Fifteen months later we finally headed of to Uganda. . Finally meeting up with Dan and letting him show us his beautiful country was well worth the recovery and wait. We so enjoyed all the Trekking, Rhinos , Chimps, and the unforgettable Gorillas. The parks Murchison , Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth were full of wildlife, way more than we had expected. We Climbed up Mt Sabyinyo near Kisoro and rate it as a supurb day hike . To be sitting in the Congo, Rwanda and Uganda at the summit after some epic ladder climbing was great. We couldn't reckomend Dan highly enough for organising such a action packed fortnight. Dans business is a credit to him , He knows Uganda, hes Passionate about giving his clients the best possible holiday. Our accommodation , meals planning and pace of the trip was surpurb. In summing Dan is the real deal, Every dollar that you spend on Kisoro adventures ends up in Ugandan hands, I feel that's one of the beauties of traveling to destinations like Uganda. When you have left you will understand why its known as The Pearl of Africa. Thanks so much Dan and all the best with Kisoro. Phil & Tracey Bax New Zealand
