Was in PL on business. Previous visits not in PL - so first time seeking accommodation in the City. Partners in M suggested the St George as good proximity to their offices.

Check in formalities were smooth, bags taken to 4th floor room which was modestly furnished. AC worked fine, but rather chose to use open window. Rooms cleaned daily, attention to laundry quite acceptable.

Breakfast was quite modest compared to other hotels I have resided at in M over the years, but food was fresh. Also dined a few times at the St George and must compliment the chef - food was well prepared tasty and well presented. In fact the one night I chose a la carte and it was exceptional.

Staff friendly & helpful.

Check out equally smooth.

Wifi - can do with improved speed.

Room is clean, clean towels bed-sheets change daily; restaurant's food(except the local fish called marlin which very popular in Mauritius taste like bark to me) apart from this service is good, staff are friendly, I have no complaint!
Another beauty is we have breakfast at the terrace and swimming pool right by the side(even it is small but we can fetch a drink is we wanted to) fantastic.
Overall it is a convenient hotel in town.

Room tip: No need majority of them are good I think!

Small but cozy rooms. Well behaved and attentive staff help you with a smile. Close to the Government offices and the business district. Only drawback is that can not walk around the property in the evenings due to law and order situation in the surrounding area after dark.

Room tip: Choose mountain view on a higher floor. The view is breathtaking as the sun comes up in the morning.

Dear travelers ;

Few point to take note if you are going to stay at the Saint George hotel ; adventure at your risk!!!

Positive ; value for money rooms , well located, morning reception staff better than the evening staff, housekeeping staff very helpful.

Negative; restaurant staff using slang languages in front on guest (guest presence not respected at all), the worst thing that can happen to you for breakfast is when you walked in the restaurant and nobody even welcomes you or don't even bother to offer service as they are quite busy on mobile phone, when they are ready they will then ask you; (MY Friend!!! will you take omelette).
On top of it other guest Is being taken good care having breakfast till expresso being served onto the Table, for others they will not even bother to ask even if it's a paying service.

Buffet poor quality- other same category hotel offer better than that- only few item would have change the whole buffet doesn't mean it should be an extraordinary buffet which will be too exaggerating for the money you are paying... Honestly I think the management should review the buffet taking the cost into consideration.

Pool not well maintained as it seemed it has not even been cleaned for at least 2 or 3 weeks or may be a month...

Overall ; Very nice place to be, but obviously it can be seen that it need some more discipline and staff needs lots of training specially on guest service and culture diversity.

Simple 3 star establishment but very good for businessman since most beach resorts are too far away. It has a decent size out door swimming pool and lively bar. Restaurant is very simple but very satisfactory. Light is dim in the rooms and wifi is slow but overall decent QPR....

Room tip: High floor, new wing.
