The Belvedere was the first hotel of our tour an I was surprised by how nice it was. Our room was comfortable with a mezzanine floor (though the stairs to it were steep and dark so I wouldn't have fancied sleeping up there and getting caught short in the middle of the night). The lighting wasn't so good so the room was dark, any natural light during the day came from a window that looked out onto the landing which was also under cover. The bathroom was fairly roomy, with a walk-in shower. Breakfast was reasonable and, again, a surprise as were expecting a lot less in Madagascar. I'm unable to comment on local places to eat as Kenya Airways had delayed our flight out by some hours which meant that we arrived way past the time we could have comfortably had dinner.

A nice position on a hill, overlooking the city. All in all, a very pleasant first impression of the country and we would definitely not hesitate in returning.

Clean room with all necessary. In the city really full of people and noise, it was nice to be up in the hill in a peaceful small hotel. In Madagaskar all the prices are really low, so is also eating everywhere.

Room tip: In corner suits you have extra window.

Comfortable, welcoming, modern accommodation in the very big, crazy, noisy, crowded capital of Madagascar. Their restaurant offers both French cuisine and local Malagasy fare, all of which was delicious. The breakfasts were huge. Most of their staff spoke limited English, fluent French, some German, and some Italian. The hotel sits atop one of the many hills of the Antananarivo city, offering not only views across the capital city, but a welcome distance/buffer from the overcrowded chaos, pollution, and activity on the streets below. We had plenty of hot water in the modern bathroom, a mosquito net, and electricity was on 24 hours/day (unusual for Madagascar). TV and wifi were also available. This pleasant stay was included in our tour by Linah at Authentic Madagascar Tours.

We found the rooms here to be fairly basic - and we had a twin not a double which was an inconvenience. The room had the essentials - a bathroom that worked, comfortable beds, mosquito coils etc (lots of bugs) - but it's nothing special and the lighting was a bit dim.
The dining room and the food was a step up; we had a really nice breakfast where you could order omelettes etc. Again, nothing over-and-above, but it was well-cooked.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and it seemed very secure.
The terrace outside the dining room had great views - but also lots of cobwebs so if you don't like spiders, be careful.
One piece of advice - it is tucked away down a series of winding alleys and would be hard to find, especially at night, so I would recommend arranging transport to get there.

I stayed on three occasions in August and September of 2017 at this hotel. On all three occasions the rooms were very comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

Room tip: Be careful going out to the surrounding area. The city is a dangerous place.
