A special family holiday in Ethiopia with our two adult sons ( 22 and 27).Began with visit to Bahir Dah. Lake Tana trip where we saw hippos, flocks of Pelicans and Very interesting Monasteries.
Then the Timket Festival ( celebration of the Epiphany in the Coptic Christian religion)
This was over three days two of which we experienced in Bahir Dah and the third in Gondor. It is a huge colourful procession with each Church in the city bringing its replica of the Arc of the Covenent to a central Park in the City where a large "swimming" pool acts as the baptismal font. After the Baptism of the faithful done in spectacular style in Bahir Dah with a Fire hose, the Arc is accompanied back to the church of origin, the next day in an equally colourful parade with lots of groups singing and dancing along the way. A festival not to be missed. Then the churches and palaces of Gondar and more Timket. Then a six day trek in the spectacular Simeon mountains, where we camped for five nights. We saw a wonderful parade of Gelaba Baboons ( about 400) moving from their daytime feeding grounds to their secure evening refuge just after sunset. Also the Simeon Red Fox and the elusive Walia Ibex. Finally a visit to Lalibela where we visited the amazing rock hewn churches and finally to Aksum, "home" of the Arc of the Covenent and history dating back to ther 7th century BC and the legend of the Queen of Sheba.
A fantastic trip highly recommended.
Our Guide Asafa Alemu was outstanding, spoke very good English and was a delight to travel with. Accommodation was very good, specially in Lalibela, food was generally very good and the travel program was very well organised and proceeded without any hitches. I found Taitu Tours and Travel and their CEO Habtamu to be very professional and very considerate. A most memorable family holiday. Would be suitable for a family with teenage children, ( or older) couples with an adventurous spirit ( saw several camping in the Simeon Mountains National park who were over sixty as well as many younger travellers). Most visitors were from France, Germany or Italy.
This is a country that Australians and New Zealanders need to put at the top of their wish list!

We have made a three-part route during 2 weeks :
- Somaliland border - Dire Dawa
- Border Djibouti - Lake Tanna (Danakil, Mekele, Lalibella, Gondar, )
- The South Including the OMO river valley

Everything was carefully planned, months in advance, with Mr. Habtamu he was always diligent in giving answers and flexible in accepting our demands. The result was a complete tour at very competitive price.
During the biggest portion of our trip we enjoyed an excellent guide, Eskinder, he is a great professional, funny person, and soon integrated as a component of the group, He has a good knowledge of the roads and off-road ways that we have done in a Toyota Landcruiser in perfect condition.
Mr. Habtamu was informed every day of how the trip was going and on the last day he accompanied us at the farewell dinner in Addis Ababa.
Without a doubt one of the best Travel Agent I've ever had in my life. 100% Recommendable

We just finished a route through the cultural north of the country. We only hire 4x4 with driver. At first I was not very confident about paying a place in Ethiopia but we did it and no problem. In Mekele Eskinder was waiting for us with a Toyota car in perfect conditions, in fact we did not have the slightest mishap with him and that conditions were sometimes adverse. And Eskinder the driver is very punctual and fun. If we repeat to make the South of Ethiopia without hesitation with Taitu Tours.

I have just arrived from a trip for 15 days in Ethiopia, north and south. It has been incredible, wonderful, one of the best trips I have done in my live.
And all that thanks to Taitu Tour and his director, Habtamu, because he has well planned the trip and we had time to visit the most famous places. The car, the hotels, the restaurants, etc. were perfect. The guide, Wasi, did his best for us, and became our friend. Also the drivers, Binyam and Mesfin, very professional, who kept in very good conditions the cars and drove perfectly in the not very good ethiopian roads.
And the most important: Habtamu answered all ours questions before the trip, it was very aesy and very fast to contact with him. And during the trip, he kept in contact with us throught phone in order to know about us.
I recommend the services of Taitu Tour if you want to visit Ethiopia, for their professionality, seriousness, and for the price, much better than travel agencies in Spain.
Thank you very much for this incredible and wonderfull trip.
