Spent four nights at Riad Dar One and loved every moment of it! The decor in our spacious room, and throughout the riad, was absolutely stunning. Delicious breakfasts, served on the roof top terrace each morning, were a real treat.
We arranged dinner for the night of our arrival and were so glad we did, as it gave us the opportunity to dine a second night on Amina's fabulous cooking! We highly recommend every dish she prepares.
Can't say enough about the wonderful staff. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful. Sorry to have missed saying goodbye and thank you to Khalid.
So many reasons to return, not the least of which is the incredible location! Loved the walks to Djemaa El Fna through the winding streets lined with such friendly people and fascinating shops.
We so hope to return one day to Marrakech and Riad Dar One!

Room tip: We loved the spacious Dune with it's huge bath, but all rooms looked beautiful!

Riad dar One is tastefully deocrated. I loved the furniture, the design of the rooms, the roof terrace and the nice smell (really!). We chose a room with a bath, which was very relaxing after a day of strolling around dusty, warm Marrakech.

Jean, the owner, was nice, helped us out on the first day, sorting out what we should do and how we could make the most of our 4 day trip. He booked our restaurants, made sure we had a driver and very nice guide for a trip outside of Marrakech and we also took the cooking class he offers. The other people who worked at the riad weren't very chatty, but we actually liked that (we've heard stories of other riads where the staff constantly wanted or tried to chat with you).

The riad is close to everything and next to the Palace. The medina (old centre) of Marrakech isn't very big. You can see it in one day. We were pleased that Jean told us that we didn't need a guide for our first day in Marrakech. Although Marrakech seems a bit overwhelming, it's a friendly, safe city (with lots of people who want to sell you stuff or show you around).

Breakfast is simple, but very good. They made sure there was some variation: one day we had pancakes, the other day we had some sweet bread. You can also have lunch or dinner here on request. We didn't do that, but the food we saw of othere guests looked very tasty. The room downstairs with the fire place was comfortable to sit at night. The roof terrace was great for reading, sun bathing and breakfast.

Wifi wasn't strong in the whole riad. You should also know that it can be a little noisy: if guests are loud, you can hear them. I think most riads will have that 'problem' because of the design of those buildings. Service can also be a bit slow.

We loved this place and would absolutely recommend this riad.

On arriving you step through a large wooden door into a tasteful and understated setting. There are flowers floating in the pool and a tranquil atmosphere that is in contrast to the chaos of the streets of Marrakech. We had booked transfers with the riad prior to arrival and were grateful for the swift transfer to Dar One even if they ran a little late. On arrival close to the riad the staff were waiting for us to lead us down the small alley way which unguided may have been difficult to find and a little daunting to walk down. In fact it is a window into Morrocan life as you see all the kids playing football and people exchanging the time of day. There is always a guardian at the gate to let you in and staff seem to miraculously appear to open the front door. We stayed in the Mirage room and were delighted to find it had an en-suite with the largest bath we had ever seen! Each morning we enjoyed taking breakfast ( a hearty meal of various breads, pancakes and sweet pastries) on the roof terrace in the sun. Everything in Dar One was done beautifully and to the highest standard. Not least in the service provided. The staff were simply excellent - from the smallest thing such as the way they laid out the breakfast to organising every excursion we requested - nothing was too much trouble and at times they needed a gentle reminder to actually charge for the services they had provided! Overall our stay was excellent and we would recommend this riad to our friends.

Room tip: The Mirage room was excellent with a lovely bathroom. We spoke to a few of the other residents and none made any complaints... book with confidence!

Riad Dar One is an oasis of understated elegance. It is impossible not to feel relaxed -the combination of colours and furnishings is very clever and tasteful -you just want to be there!
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our short visit was too short - our fantasy is to take some friends with us next time and have the entire Dar One at our disposal ! The owner, Jean, was the perfect host. Apart from making our restaurant reservations for us and coming up with a number of ideas to make our stay worthwhile, he arranged for a "champagne breakfast" in celebration of my birthday. We are not riad experts but we would, without, doubt, recommend Dar One

We've just got back from a 3 night stay at Riad Dar One, which I booked as a birthday present for my Mum. We had an absolutely fantastic trip and staying at Dar One really was the perfect present! We had never been to Marrakech before, and it certainly was a bit of a shock when we arrived as there are literally people, mopeds, donkeys and cars everywhere! But arriving at Dar One, once we had been led down the winding alleys that lead to it, was like arriving in an oasis of beautiful tranquility. I really cannot fault anything about our stay there at all, and it was excellent value for money. Jean has styled the riad beautifully and all the staff are the most helpful I have ever had in a hotel. They helped us plan all the things we wanted to do on our stay, booked restaurants, took us to hammams and booked taxis for us. In a city that can be a bit of a culture shock, their help, advice and local knowledge was invaluable. I would thoroughly recommend staying here, and I would love to go back. Thank you so much to Jean and all the staff at Dar One!

If you are planning to go I would recommend booking your airport taxis through Dar One as the riad is quite hard to find, and the Dar One staff will come out to meet you if they know when you're arriving. Other recommendations are: going to a Hammam, the YSL gardens, the tannary, horse and carriage ride, going to a fixed price Artisanal shop before hitting the souks if you need an idea of prices and take lots of small change for tips.

Room tip: We stayed in Dune room, which was lovely - it is a good sized room with a small sofa area, a very big bathroom with a double sink and a huge bath.
