very very close to the center! for hostel prices, you can get your own bed in your own little room. shared toilet and shower room. it's a bit cramped. but very friendly and helpful staff. clean and quiet.

At first it was a bit hard to find but actually the hotel is in a very good location - near Djeema-El-Fna but also away from the crowd. The room was simple yet comfortable with the only drawback being lightning - if one plans to read a book or something in the evening, it might not be possible. The roof terrace is great and the hotel offers breakfast for 20 or 25DAM. The staff was friendly and overall I am satisfied with my stay in this bang-for-the-buck hotel.

I've stayed in the Hotel Essaouira a couple of times and the next time I go to Marrakech I will stay there again - as long as its not booked up.

I can't really put my finger on why I like it there so much. Maybe it is because it is so close to the Souks and the main square. The rooftop area where you can just chill out is probably what makes it stand out from the other hotels in this area and in this price range.

The staff are quite friendly and helpful, but given that they see so many faces they can be forgiven for not always being as attentive as some high maintenance people might expect. However, if you are a low maintenance kind of person, who is on a budget, then I thoroughly recommend it.

The accommodation is pretty basic, but it is clean and the beds are comfortable and anyway you can't really expect a 5 * palace at budget prices can you? I've paid a lot more for similar accommodation, so I think it is good value for money by anyone's standards.

I would advise you book early though because word has got out about this gem of a place. My favourite room is Room 7 which has a window onto the street below and has a good source of light.

Room Tip: Room number 7 is my favourite

The hotel is just in a side street at the beginning of the souks, close to the main square.
The room did not have a bathroom, toilets (2 in total) were outside along the stairs. There were 3 showers as well (the two on the top floor had hot water - learnt it on the hard way).
No toilet paper.
Rooms quite small but serve the purpose, however, they are quite noisy, dont block too much sound off.
Staff was sleeping most of the times we passed reception.
Very cheap.
Good breakfast on the terrace for 20 dhiram

Exactly what a poor college student needed on a solo trip to Morocco. Affordable, safe, quiet, simple, and pleasant accommodations. If the sky is clear from smog, there is a pretty stellar view of the Atlas Mountains from the rooftop. I would smoke cigarettes, drink apple soda, and write in my journal while sitting up there.

Not for the demanding.

Room Tip: Ask for the second floor.
