“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2012

We choose this Riad due to it's location and the good reviews, and were'nt disapointed on that score. Communication was excellent re. booking by email and we had the choice of rooms as we booked 6 months in advance and paid a 50% deposit - which is normal. However a few days after booking we noticed that the Riad was offering 20% off for booking in advance. I sent a very polite email asking if we could take advantage as we had booked so far in advance, 2 rooms, for 4 nights. Strangely this time , no response to my enquiry - silence, I asked again - no response. This left a rather bitter taste in our mouth ! Be warned!! I understand that this is a business but a polite response does not harm anyone. The Riad itself is lovely, the food in the restaurant is good but a bit pricey, we prefered to eat in the square. The staff are excellent, and the best thing about it is the beautiful roof terrace - start the day with breakfast on the terrace, then off into the souks and back to the riad for a relaxing snooze on a loungers or a dip in the jacuzzi - heaven! (Don't be fooled by the photo of the riad pool - it is TINY - I'm not sure how they make it look big on the website!) We never felt threatened walking around the souks day or night. OK you might get hassled by someone wanting to take you to a spice shop or something, but a polite but firm NO usually works. Do try the wonderful juice bar just as you head to the square, the avocado smoothies are wonderful.! A good Riad, with a great location but check the offers first!!

Thank you for the time to post your feedback on your stay in our riad, and the overall good comment you had.
We are disappointed that you do not amend your post as we have proved you that we had received your mails asking for a discount and we had responded immediately to them. As you recognized they were in your spam box, and we all know that it happens sometimes and we don’t know why.
Anyway, everybody has to understand that we may propose “last minute” discounts, but they are only for late bookings. Never for bookings 6 months in advance, and not in high season periods.
We regret that you did not mention this problem during your stay in the riad. This would have been the occasion to understand better each other and prevent you leaving our place with some bitter taste.

My friend and I stayed at this riad from the 25/28th may. We had the perle room and found itto be a good size space for 2 friends to stay in. We had dinner at the riad on the first night and had great service and food. The roof terrace is lovely and we found that the people staying at. The riad were all "our sort of people". The worst part about this riad is the location as you have to go down a scary tunnel to get to it- if you are touristy looking and come out of this tunnel the locals will know you are staying at the riad al rimal- I only mention this as we were followed by a man purporting to work at our riad offering to show us his spice store- obv he didn't and when we wised up to this he disappeared! That being said the obscure off the street location was safe as they have a safety steward who will see you through- he is in a high vis jacket and we tipped him at the end of our stay for helping us out. Other small niggle was that there is no fridge in the room so no cool water in the morning.
we ventured out of the riad into the Jemma el fan square as quickly as we could because we wanted to get to grips with it- it was pretty hectic and if you are 2 women travelling on your own you will be hassled pretty much constantly- say non Merci a lot and glide on past! We used trip advisor to plan our itinerary so some things that we did which we would recommend are: faim d'espice cooking day coupled with the Mystic Spa hammam which was a great way to spend a day! We also went to the majorelle or YSL gardens (we walked from the riad- took us about 40 mins) very peaceful, cool and calming. We visited the newer part of town for dinner and went to the Comptoir - this is where one of the Americas next top model shows were filmed balancing tea sets on their heads- this was part of an actual show that they do at about 22:30 each night where belly dancers come out to the floor to do a show. We found taxis to be hair-raising in terms of safety but very cheap- we didn't pay more than about 50d for any trip one way (this is approx £4.50) go, experience and have fun!

I recently stayed in Marrakesh with a friend for my first time and i was so pleased with the location of this riad.It was a very comfy suite the sapphire. We loved sitting on the roof terrace having the gorgeous breakfast in the sun and then sunbathing in the afternoon with wine and a dip in the hot tub.The staff were friendly especially Foaud who always geeted us with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. The riad staff were very helpful in booking up restaurants, camel rides and hammans for us.I would like to say my only moan would be to have snacks available throughout the day, but i will visit again.

Just come back from staying 4 nights at the riad, excellent accomodation, service. Spotlessly clean rooms, genuine lovely staff, made so welcome nothing to much trouble. Would recommend this Riad have stayed in Marrakesh before and this riad was a little hidden treasure. Thankyou to all the staff for a lovely stay especially as it was my husbands 50th birthday and we enjoyed our stay so much. Went to La Competoir Restaurant and night club amazing time and La Momounia for afternooon tea sheer luxury.

The medina is beautiful. It's a little tricky to initially find (our taxi driver, booked through the riad, got lost in the alleys) but once you've got your bearings and over the fear or some of the darker alleys its fine.

Three of us stayed in the Pearl suite and it was perfect for us. It's exactly as it looks on the internet. As the riad was fairly quiet a lot of the other rooms doors were open and they all looked as they do on the internet as well so whichever room you choose you should be happy with.

The only gripes I would have is that because it's run more like a B&B it can be difficult to find someone for service and we were woken very early one morning from noises around the riad because everything echos. However, neither of these issues would put me off returning and I would happily recommend it to anyone taking a trip to Marrakech.
