Fez Medina is something we have in our own country, so it was nothing special for our group. The only difference was the donkeys carrying goods which appear from no where...Huge Tourist Trap shopping to which the guide will DEFINATELY take you...You go in from one door and come out from another one, I guess they do this to make sure no one stays behind...Except for the brass section of the madina the rest of the stuff sold there was really tacky...and probably not "the real thing"

My husband and 7yo visited Fes Medina first with a guide, then on our own. I recommend this approach as I think experienced more than doing either alone. We would have missed the details without a guide, but would have missed the opportunity to get lost without exploring on our own. A great experience.

We did a tour here with a local guide- very interesting location. Most museums and paid entrances were more expensive than the other locations we had previously visited. The tannery was the big attraction for us and if you dont mind the smell it is will worth the visit. The city is a warren of small streets and side streets and hard enough to get your head around locations etc but a really nice place and worth visiting if you have the time

The Fes medina Is filled with historic khans, medresses, leather dye-pits, stalls loaded with fruits, herbs and soups. Medresse el Attarine, the tanneries and the Fondouk Nejjarine, a beautifully restored 18th century inn but now a boring museum of shelves and boxes and tools - beautiful building - like a caravanserai.

Lots of shops and 'factories' today pushing products - ceramics & pottery, leather ( with the view over tannery tho - glad we are in a group with shoppers) and weaving with agave 'silk' and alpaca! Overall this Medina delivers. It is as advertised. A fascinating place to tour with lots to see and buy!
