You can't probably tell tell how big it was from the outside but we only managed to see part of it after spending 3 hours inside. There are all sorts of shops in the medina, ranging from souvenir shops selling scarves and leather products for tourists to butcher's shops and stores selling spices for local people. You can also find religious places where you can only have a look from the outside. It was like a labyrinth which can be so quiet in some alleys while you will also bump into crowds of tourist group in the other parts. You will have to make ways at times for donkeys carrying goods. It would better to explore the place with a local guide if you do not want to get lost.
