“Moroccon Magic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

Just back from a week staying at Tikida Beach - our first experience of Agadir and also Riu hotels
Decent flight with Thomsons/First Choice though short haul brings the issues of space and high priced refreshments.
Small airport at Agadir so an easy arrival, quick collection of bags and a 30 minute transfer to the hotel This followed by a smooth check-in at the hotel still allowed us as evening arrivals, to unpack, explore and enjoy dinner
The hotel is spotless inside and out in the grounds, around the pool etc. Rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds, adequate storage and large furnished balconies, We had emailed the hotel prior to our stay asking for a quiet room overlooking the sea, which they accomodated.
Food is available all day with a choice between buffets. The lunchtime buffet is open to the elements with some food being enjoyed by the local wildlife before the hotel guests. 2 a la cartes are available on an evening - seafood and moroccon We tried both and enjoyed
Staff are very polite and attentive especially the bar staff and the animation team are great fun
One exception was a moody girl on reception, but hey we all have bad days
The restaurant staff did have their favourate guests which was shamefully obvious with displays of affection and personalised service, leaving some guests without even a sideways glance or 'bon jour' Everyone works hard to pay for their holidays and should receive the same hospitality, with or without tipping
The hotel backs onto the beach with its own private area and a 20 - 30 minute walk takes you to shops & cafes, A few street/beach sellers display their wares but aren't intimidating or offended if you say a polite 'non merci'
Overall we had a lovely time and may well return. Agadir is a relatively newly built resort after an earthquake in the 1960's and building still dominates the skyline around the hotel 'strip' You may want to venture out of the area to see the real Morocco

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the sea are worth requesting or upgrading to, and yes have a fabulous view but are...

Absolutely fabulous hotel to stay, consistency every time. No complaints whatsoever. The staff are brilliant, the food was excellent, the room was very comfortable, the hotel was spotlessly clean. A mention also to the vocalist and the guy who played the keyboard, you were very good. Well done everyone, you are the best and thank you for making our stay so perfect. Hope to be back again in September.

Room Tip: Would recommend upgrading to a seaview room.

What is there, you will have to go a long way to find any faults at this hotel. Anyone who does will only be looking out for and dig deep for problems.

Let’s start from the airport on the transfer coach we were given welcome pack inside was the hotel registration form which was duly completed. On arrival at the hotel we went straight in the porters looked after the luggage. We were given a very warm welcome by the receptionist and checked in very efficiently and advised our room would not be ready for two hours. During check in we were offered a Fruit Cocktail. This is an all-inclusive hotel so we went to the bar for a coffee where the waiter was very prompt with the service. As requested we went back to reception at midday, we were allocated our room and identified our luggage, which was promptly delivered to our room.

Well our room you could not ask for better, we had upgraded to pool view but we then had a free upgrade to sea view, overlooking the beach and the sea. It was large and spacious with a nice lounge area, separate bathroom and toilet. It was all spotlessly clean. Housekeeping was excellent and came every day. Television channels were limited as in most hotels abroad. There was also plenty of bottled water and replenished every day.

There are 4 restaurants for the All-inclusive one being Le Chiringuito where lunch was served it is quite large. There was a good selection of food at the least a variety of 6 plus hot meat dishes, several cold on the salad bar, two fish dishes sometimes three and vegetarian. There was something for everybody, plenty of wine and other drinks. The waiting staff was all very good we had a waiter called Hichen he looked after us well and did not pester for a tip, of course he got one for excellent service.

In an evening Le Chiringuito became a fish restaurant for dinner, this served a set meal well cooked and served. Again there were no complaints.

At lunchtimes there was also an Italian restaurant in the open where they served pizza and pasta again all waiter service. Mid-afternoon onwards there served pancakes and snacks. This restaurant was adjacent to the pool bar which was open from 1000 to 1800 with a full bar service and waiter service around the pool, nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Then there was the main restaurant where they served breakfast and dinner. Starting with breakfast there was the continental which had a good selection of meats fish and cheese with fresh bread and rolls together with croissants and pastries, butter and preserves. There was also a hot selection including a vegetarian dish. The usual Tea Coffee Fruit Juices and cereals as well. Tables were re-laid quickly so there was no delay. Again the staff were good, polite and efficient.

Dinner was also served in the restaurant a full range of Buffet Dishes including meat, pasta and fish together with a good selection of vegetables. There was a good selection of deserts and cheeses. There was two theme evenings during our stay one Moroccan the other Chinese. Beer, wine and soft drinks were available throughout this service. The waiting staff looked after us well, especially “Said”.

Lastly there was the Moroccan Restaurant where there was a set menu of Moroccan food. The waiters were dressed in Moroccan Attire. This restaurant had to be booked in advance as was the fish restaurant. We do not believe that anybody can find fault with the all-inclusive service as this is the best we have stayed in so far.

Besides the Pool Bar there is the all-inclusive bar near reception which offers a full bar service from 1000 to midnight. The waiters again are efficient and helpful. This bar also offers Tea, Speciality Teas and coffee. The evening entertainment was also in this bar and could be seen from the lounge upstairs. There was a good range of cocktails. Local spirits, wine and beer. There was an outside area (where smoking was permitted) overlooking ornamental pools and waterfall, again there was a full waiter service.

There were a lot of French staying in the hotel; the main problem with them was the usual TOWELS On LOUNGERS from six in a morning leaving very few loungers for other guests. There was a private beach area for hotel guests being on the Atlantic there was always loungers available there. The pools in the hotel complex were always warm and shielded from the wind.

A lot of the British guests were older and in an evening was more of a community where a lot chatted to each other in small groups. It was nice not having children running about all over the place.

The staff overall provided and excellent service and where there was good service a small tip did not go amiss, but none of the staff made any sign of wanting a tip like in some hotels. Nabil the Thomson Holiday Adviser deserves a mention as he did all he could to give a good service.

This hotel was a good choice by Thomson’s and is strongly recommended and we would stay there again if we return to Agadir.

Room Tip: The room at the sea end of the hotel are the quietest ,, we heard very little noise from the nihjt c...

We was there 12/04/ to 19/04 great location, good quailty clean hotel as you would expect with TIU, on arrival we found the recption staff to be very helpfull and nothing was too much trouble, the room ws just far enough away from the night club overlooking the sea and pool( we would not wanted to be any nearer because of the noise factor), the room was good well maintained and very clean and housekeeping kept that way all week, the waiting and the bar staff were brilliant did not have to wait for drinks at all, well i thought it could not get better but it did the food was some of the best i have had in North Africa, the welcome into the restuarant was great and the service was second to none, we are now look ing at going back in may.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the pool or sea do not stay in the front rooms they are directly over the...

This hotel really lived up to our expectations. We paid for a pool view and also had a sea view! The room was perfect and even the pillows and bed were comfortable. We stayed for 11 nights and cannot think of 1 complaint! The staff at the hotel from when we checked in until we left were always attentive, helpful and friendly. The food was very good with plenty of choice. Choice of drinks also very good, rose wine particularly good. We enjoyed our holiday so much, we got home 3 days ago and are already checking prices for September!

Room Tip: rooms above disco very noisy
