We were tipped off by Heather at 511 Main Fountain in Ashton to take the Route 47 Bypass... and we were glad she did!
Both Falls are amazing, and a must see.

On a recent trip to Yellowstone my husband and I took off down highway 20 to Mesa Falls. We found it to be a very tranquil place and after the crowds of Yellowstone it was nice to enjoy the sound of the water rushing over the falls. It is a little bit off of the beaten track but the journey was worth it.

The hike to see the falls is well worth it and doesn't take long. When we were there we could see a rainbow over the falls. It showed up in our pictures as well. I recommend seeing Mesa Falls.

Upper Mesa Falls very scenic. With the ramps great views of falls could be had without a lot of effort. We viewed Lower Mesa Falls from a distant overlook a ways off but a clear look at Falls. If you are in this area, do not miss these Falls.

The drive on the Mesa Falls Scenic Parkway to get to the upper falls was actually quite nice as it is all range land - don't be surprised to see cattle right by the road. The short walk to get to the falls is not real difficult and the boardwalk and railings there are very well engineered. Also consider going to see the lower falls, but you can really only see them from a distance - still rather beautiful.

That was the reaction to everyone in our group. Staying in Yellowstone, we took a drive to see Mesa Falls and it was worth taking the time. It was like a smaller version of Niagara Falls! Just a short walk from the parking area, there appeared to be multiple trails he can hike as well. It has a visitor center, but was closed for the season.

Mesa falls were beautiful. Very easy to walk to using a lot of steps. Not to use with a stroller. Worth the walk. Not difficult at all.

It was well worth the drive and the short hike. Hubby took the longer hike and loved it. I am recovering from chemo and could not make the longer hike, but had a beautiful Place to wait for him. Would like to bring the family back to see it.

We found this scenic drive listed in our guide books, and enjoyed the whole experience: the drive up Rte. 47 from Ashton, and the great views of both the Upper and Lower Falls.
