This is a really nice beach with kids because there are almost no waves. Also the snorkeling is great, we saw a few turtles! :-)

We went to Anini Beach two days this past week during our vacation on Kauai. This is by far the best snorkeling site, especially during the winter. I was there when a "big swell" was coming through so other beaches like Ke'e and Tunnels were no able to be snorkeled at due to 20-30 foot waves (seriously they were huge). However, due to the reef this is a very protected beach so it's always very calm. With that said there is a strong current so be mindful of that when you are out in the water. I got to swim with sea turtles all day one of the days I was there. And hardly anyone was out there with me so I got to observe the turtle in its natural environment. Also saw lots of colorful fish, a few flounder, and an eel hanging out in the coral. It's a great beach for snorkeling and sun bathing. There are bathrooms available. It's somewhat crowded for Kauai standards I guess, but it's nothing like what I'm compared to at the beach here on the east coast. If I get a chance to return to Kauai, I would definitely put this beach on my to do list.
This is a beautiful, iconic Kauai beach. Lengthy and narrow, there is always room to put your towel down and simply relax. Access by car on the east or by public trial access on the west end( just outside the Westin Princeville Resort. It is a wonderful swimming and snorkling Beach and is reef protected.
This beach is a bit deceitful. At times it doesn't look like much but the snorkelling is awesome. We had the good fortune of snorkelling with a friendly minding his own business turtle. We gave him lots of room and just watching him swim around. BE CAREFUL though as the current can be very strong. I had a boogie board with me and was glad to have the extra help.
We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day at Anini Beach! The water was calm & warm. We were able to walk way out in the water because the shore has such a gradual slope. We loved looking for unique shells on the sand. Can not wait to go back!
My love of green sea turtles turned to obsession after spending literally hours snorkeling up close with numerous turtles in this beautiful beach area. The barrier reef protects this beach from big surf and offers a couple of layers of reef to explore behind the outer barrier reef. To the east of the boat ramp there were numerous turtles lounging and feeding. There are also many of the standard Hawaiian reef fish to view and sea cucumbers, sea slugs, and urchins. Only detractors are that the reef seems to be dying off and it is easy to get somewhat lost among the layers of reef that sometimes get too shallow to swim or snorkel, so just pay attention to where you are at and where you are going. Totally mesmerizing to float along with the gentle and noble sea turtles, they embody the "aloha" spirit and will leave a lasting impression!
