We had a wonderful 8 night stay here in March 2014. The diving is what drew us there, but we would go back again just for the island vibe. This is not the touristy, 5 star hotel experience of other locations. Only one TV, internet limited to the restaurant-lobby area, but we needed to disconnect anyway! We regularly walked the 2 or 3 km into town & back in the afternoons, after some fabulous diving. Dive shop is super! These are folks who love what they do. The breakfast was great way to start the day. We also had many other meals there, mixed with a few meals in town. Sea breezes almost all day every day.

Room Tip: There is an old building & a newer building. Newer building may catch better breezes, views.

Spent 8 weeks here last summer from June till August. Absolutely incredible time was had by all. Swam with dolphins, turtles, rays and sharks. Every one working at this resort is friendly and you are made to feel at home as soon as you jump on to the jetty. Will be returning this summer to stay at Coral View has to be the best place to stay on Utila!

Great! Very nice people! The diving was magnificent! Very qualified instructors, very knowledgeable about the reef and safe and fun diving!!!
The food was pretty good. I love that there is a bar and a sun dock right on the water front!

Room Tip: It's about a 15-20 min walk into town, which is once for the exercise and not to be too close to the madness. Great snorkelling right off the dock!

My wife and I were in Livingstone, Guatemala and found we could get to Utilia in a day: half hour by launch to Puerto Barrios, eight hours by shuttle bus to pier at La Cieba and an hour by catamaran to Utila. We read the reviews of Coral View and signed up for five days. Miss Tonya met us at the dock and took us to her hotel. We enjoyed it so much that we spent 11 days there. The cook was always ready for our orders and the fish was magnificent every night. We arranged for three snorkeling trips and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves the entire time. Miss Tonya made us feel as part of her family and was always delighted to join us in conversation. Birding in non-migration times is not terribly profitable on Utila but there was almost always a Canivet's Emerald hanging about the hummingbird feeder. The folks doing the scuba course got a great view of a 25' Whale Shark while we were there and got within 10' of it. It was a most valuable and delightful time and we might return some day.

Room Tip: We were on second floor overlooking the "street". Since Coral View is at the end of the main island, there was very little traffic other than tuk-tuks during the day and it was extremely quiet. The maid service was excellent

We stayed at the Coral View Beach resort in january 2014. Rainy season was late and weather was not all that good. I am a scuba dive, so I did a dozen of dives. My girlfriend is not, she had a hard time, she was hoping for sun and sand. She didn't get much of each. There is nothing that feels like a beach, only stairs at the end of the dock to go snorkeling on the reef, which is great.
The room......our room was the one called the PENTHOUSE, I figured it was going to be the best room in the place. That room need an urgent refresh, the mattress is good for the garbagge, the linnens are so worn out the you can see through them, the bug screens are thorn off, when there is one on a window. The closing mecanism on the windows are not functional, the window in the bathroom doesn't close. My girlfriend was eaten by sand flies inside the room, and one night a big cockroach invited itself in.
The people there are very nice, very good service all around, from the cleaning lady, the cook, the hostess (miss Tonya) That is why this review is hard to write.
We had a problem going back. The resort had arranged for a transport that never showed up so we missed the ferry. Tonya arranged for a private plane to pick us up and take us to LaCeiba so we could catch our flight back.
In conclusion, the people are great, the hotel is not so hot. GUYS.....don't take princess there, you ll hear about it for a while.
