We took the banana tour at mid-morning -- perfect timing before the day became too hot.

After we had made our reservation, the owner called to let us know that another group had scheduled for the same time, giving us the option of moving our time if we didn't want to be part of a large group (12 people). It turned out to be a good thing as the other group was a tour of students from the West Indies. They were familiar with growing bananas, and so they asked very good questions, helping us all learn even more.

The tour is very informative. You will actually walk through the banana plants and workers will show how the plants are trimmed, how the bananas are grown and harvested. We learned what kind of banana is "acceptable" to most consumers (sadly, a small blemish may keep a banana from making it to market) and saw a video of how the bananas are packaged and shipped.

While our tour was conducted on a day where there was no shipping, it was still a great tour. Having the video made up for the part that we did not see in action.

If you are on the peninsula of Placencia, make sure to include the Bunches of Fun tour. It is easy to get to, a great way to spend a couple of hours, and you will have more respect for the bananas you eat when you return home.

Oh, and everyone gets a little bag of fried banana chips to snack on at the end of the tour!

This was very interesting to see how bananas were harvested and how they grow! Putting a bag on the bananas was different.

We were worried that it might be goofy, but the banana farm tour was very interesting! Who knew how complicated farming banana plants (not trees) could be! Highly recommended if you need a day away from the beach or jungle.

We just decided at the last minute to drive to Bunches of Fun Banana Farm and it must have been meant for us since a tour of two just began.
This was incredibly fascinating. We did not realize how many levels it takes to get to the local markets. Great tour don’t talk yourself out of going.
And yes the banana chips at the end was a real plus. I wanted to buy a big bag but they didn’t have any.

Oh what fun and educational. Our group of 8 really enjoyed our tour of the bannana plantation. Evin was delightful and really does a great job making sure you understand how everything works. Do not miss this!
