Description: We're certainly far from perfect, but we do try our best to create a winning experience for every single customer, whether they are hotel guests, Belizean neighbors or travelers staying at other hotels. Try pairing small plates with wines, choose from our creative main courses, or just enjoy some comfort food for breakfast or lunch. It's fun for us to meet new people and, well, just make them happy! Our casual beach bistro focuses on unique sauces and contemporary, tropical-themed flavor combinations while maintaining comfortable portions. Lots of fish and seafood. Bar service includes a 130-bottle wine list, local beer, rum drinks, and house specials. The outdoor atmosphere is casual so you can be comfortable in flip flops. Belize's "Restaurant of the Year" award was presented twice to the Bistro in June 2011 and May 2013.

While in Placencia for 2 weeks, we had dinner at The Bistro twice.

The food and the atmosphere were top-notch.

I had two particularly good appetizers -- the roasted pumpkin chile soup and the goat cheese mushroom toast. Both quite yummy!

Everyone in our group had one of the fish dishes -- both snook and snapper were great.

Desserts here are also great -- if they have the banana coconut pie, make sure they save you a piece.

One of the best things about The Bistro is the wine cellar. Many of the restaurants in Placencia have a few token bottles of wine on their menus. The Bistro has a full wine cellar with carefully selected wines. It was a treat to get some great bottles while we were there for dinner.

Make sure to include at least one visit to The Bistro in any Placencia vacation. You will need a reservation and transportation -- this restaurant is not in the town of Placencia, but north of the airport. Once you've been there you will already be booking your next meal there!

We went to dinner here twice. Went early to get the happy hour and the applies. Stayed for dinner. There were 11 of us from little ones to seniors and ages in between. There was something for all of us. Especially popular were the lamb sliders as an appie. Every entree got a thumbs up. The peanut brittle ice cream pie was outstanding as well. Definitely a restaurant not to be missed. But very popular so reservations are a must. The staff was excellent and attentive.

Lots of restaurants in Placencia pennisula.....but this one is a cut above. Right on the beach with palm trees swaying in the breeze and a full moon above. Had a great special, fish with a spinach/leek sauce which was fabulous (snook) and they actually had a Chardonnay that I liked. Best wine list here too. 3 appetizers, 3 specials, bottle of wine and a glass of red....with tip $150 US.... cheap by Canadian standards... make reservations. We went with a friend who is a regular 4 times a week and got a table in 10 mins.
