We loved our stay here! The land is beautiful and there are many types of birds in the area. It's just beautiful. This is not a resort and there is no TV or pool. We rented a car so the fact it was a few miles out of town was not an issue. Perfect loco for getting to the ATM cave tour meeting spot. There is no air conditioning and the wood blinds and windows are open through the night to keep cool. Mosquito net is provided but we didn't need it. There are lizards/geckos everywhere that eat the bugs and they do end up in your room from time to time. It was 85 during the day but cool in the morning at 61. You wake up to mist and lots of bird noise. It was awesome! They do not provide hair products so you need to bring your own. There are several small markets nearby. Ricky runs the place and will assist you with questions and tour inquiries. Grace was our wonderful chef that made our breakfast each day and then would come out to our table and talk about the meal. One morning we had stewed pumpkin so she brought out the squash to show us what it looked like. You also get get bacon or ham, plantains, etc. Grace also assisted us with tips on the things we were doing that day and also recommended other things to do. Wonderful people here! Can't say enough great things!

Good Day Ms Carla,
We truly appreciate your words of praise. Casa del Caballo Blanco was established to provide a peaceful respite from the day's adventures, where the serenity of the location and the beauty provided the traveler quiet moments for reflection - much in the manner of a borderlands hacienda. Your review truly describes and captures the experience that we strive to provide each visitor to Casa. Thank you so much for your visit and for taking your time to write this lengthy review.

Stayed here 4 nights, two "seniors" and our teenage granddaughter. The setting was awesome, up on a hill with beautiful trees and flowers, great views, even several animals (sweet "Papa" the dog) and many songbirds -- plus an owl nesting in a close tree. Basically, beautiful, serene, and quiet. Beds and bedding were comfortable & ample, and we appreciated having a fridge & mosquito netting. Ms. Gracie provided us with lovely breakfasts and Mr. Ricky was kind enough to take us into town for a some dinners and to accommodate us in other ways. Overall, our stay there was just about perfect.

Room Tip: all rooms have same views and easy access to dining room

We stayed here for two nights and were able to leave most of our luggage in our rooms while we went on an overnight tour to Tikal. The very large cabanas were lovely with high thatched roofs and screened tops to the walls, which would normally be fine except for the unusually chilly weather Belize was having a few weeks ago. And I laugh remembering I was concerned about there being no ac! The grounds were very lovely, overlooking a lawn and the hills further out. Ricky was very kind, offering a lift into town one night, Gloria and Allison made fabulous hot breakfasts and the best fresh fruit salad we had in our entire trip. It was great to be a short taxi ride into San Ignacio, a great little town, and yet to return to the countryside at the end of the day. We made a great choice!

Good Day Ms Doris,

We are so pleased that your experience at Casa del Caballo Blanco was one that will leave you with lasting pleasant memories. Everyone at Casa is committed to providing our guests with comfortable accommodations and lovely meals - but most importantly that they have grand memories of their adventure to Belize. Current global weather patterns are proving a challenge to the traditional thatch-roofed cabana that is prevalent in the neo-tropics - seems additional blankets will be required! We do appreciate your good humor in that regard.

Please come visit with us again if Belize is in your future travel plans, in any case travel safely,

Mr Vance, owner

This is a great location, we are so happy we chose to stay at the Caballo Blanco for our entire time in San Ignacio. Our local host Ricky was AWESOME, very knowledgeable and helpful.
He helped us get to town almost every night after he came back from work, and gave us suggestions of places to eat.

Grace is super nice too, she made us breakfast every morning on the time we requested so we could go on our scheduled activities for that day.

Mr Vance who we haven't met, also sounds like a great person, he is committed to the conservation and protection of San Ignacio's wild life and their natural habitat.

Not only is Casa del Caballo Blanco located in a beautiful mountain setting, It is easy to find (just ask a local where the new hospital is if you need directions) and it's just minutes from downtown San Ignacio. The people there are true locals who know the area and provide their guests with a genuine Belizean experience. Ricky (caretaker) has an amazing wealth of knowledge and is kind and easy going. Gracie (cook) and Alice (housekeeping) are the sweetest, and kept us comfortable and well fed with a delicious "home" cooked breakfast each morning. We quickly became friends with them and will be staying there again in the future.

Room Tip: we stayed in Rm 5. Nice mountain/valley view.
