The owner sent us an e-mail with important details before our trip. Owner Debbie Gowie immediately responded to some general questions I still had. When we arrived on Caye Caulker at the water taxi dock, the rental manager, Michael Joseph, surprisingly had arranged to have a golf cart taxi driver waiting for us with a sign with my name on it! "Martin" from Nick's Taxi took us to the gated property for only $5 US. The manager, Michael, greeted us at the door and was genuinely warm and friendly! He walked us through everything we needed to know (Wi-Fi access, hidden room safe access code, provided 5 gallon purified water, clothes washer, etc..). The tap water is chlorinated city water, so it's safe, but they provide purified water cause it tastes better. We brought a refillable bottle with us and refilled frequently and the 5 gallons they provide is more than enough for 2 people for 8 days! Bikes are already at the property and only $5 US per day and made it so convenient to get everywhere on the island! The room is so beautiful, the hardwood ceiling alone was awing! Everything you need is provided to make your own meals if you like, which we did often for breakfast and lunch. Definitely go to Chan's Marketplace for your groceries as it is the cleanest market we found with all items clearly marked. The rental homes in this private enclave share a pool between every other home, so you still feel private as not everyone uses same pool. Pool was very clean and plenty of cushioned lounge chairs are provided. It looks exactly as pictured! It's truly a short walk to the ocean and the pier with the path being a beautiful treat of it's own with plenty of landscaped flora! I must say we loved the pier the best! It's just as pictured with the huge palapa and lounge chairs, but what you can't see in the picture is how much cooler you feel being out there with the tradewinds! Steps down to water for swimming. I snorkeled from pier and saw bright , small yellow fish at dock steps, larger fish under dock, a 2 ft. starfish on the sea grass, and a stingray went by me on one day as well! Now, there was construction next to us in the complex, but they only worked 8-5 and were very respectful and some even always said hello to us! It did not detract from our stay as we were up early every morning anyway with so much to see and do on the island. I had the best time here and loved our rental as it felt like we had our own island home!! Highly recommend!
