Five of us stayed in one of the suites. Fabulous view of the ocean ideally situated on the edge of town but just steps away from the resorts own dock (as have most resorts in San Pedro). We are a family of divers but wanted to mix in some other activities as well. Couldn't have wished for a better place - we dove 2 tanks most days with ecodive - a superb outfit with a wonderful divemaster. We had two newly certified 11 year olds with us and their patience and capability really helped. Hotel staff really friendly and helpful. We used them to organise several excursions (cave tubing is a must do....) which were highlights. A wonderful vacation at one of the worlds best diving locations but with so much more to offer.

Xanadu was a perfect vacation spot! Every single member of the staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms had everything we needed, were comfortable - overall everything was perfect.

The recommended tour guides and excursions were amazing - knowledgeable, safe, friendly, and accommodating.

If you are interested in a peaceful vacation in a friendly place with room for adventure and trying new things this is definitely a great place to try!

The Xanadu Island Resort is a cute (and tiny) resort on the coast of Ambergris Caye of Belize. The resort is made up of just 19 rooms, and it's size enables it to be more custom-tailored to its guests.

The ROOMS
We stayed in a 3 bedroom suite (all rooms are referred to as suites there). We had a living room, kitchen (there's no restaurant in the hotel) and 3 very decently sized bedrooms each with a personal bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, and the suite gave off a nice feeling. There were 2 TVs featuring all American channels (CNN, ABC, FOX, etc). The kitchen was fully equipped with utensils, plates, glasses etc. The rooms also had a balcony with a hammock. NOTE: it is very hot and humid during the day, so keep doors to suites closed, to keep coolness in (the A/C is VERY strong!)

The GROUNDS
The grounds of the hotel are very well maintained, with people constantly walking and cleaning up after the guests. There is a large pool, a beach and a little dock with a cabana for sunbathing and sitting. The grounds are beautifully decorated with various plants, palm trees etc. At night the palm trees are lit up and security guards monitor the area.

The ACTIVITIES
The hotel offers (free) kayak, bike and snorkeling gear rentals. The kayaks and snorkeling gear are in good condition, while the bikes could use some updating. The hotel also offers very good rates for golf cart rental (most people use carts to get around, due to the size of the island). All of this can be arranged through the 'activities center' which is just a small window next to the main office.

The STAFF
The staff at the office are very knowledgeable and friendly, we were greeted with a friendly smile and everything was taken care of very well. The staff are also great at arranging tours and excursions for the day, if you so wish. The other staff (mainly groundskeepers) are very friendly and will go out of their way to say hi, ask how you are, etc.

OVERALL
Quite a good value for the money, we were pleased with our stay.

We stayed in unit #10 which is a 2 bedroom on the ground floor on one level.

Pros:
1. Extremely comfortable beds.
2. Kitchen dishes and appliances well maintained.
3. Nice location- close to grocery stores.
4. Nice little beach.
5. Nice folks running the place and Maids are nice and accommodating too.
6. Great pool.

Cons:
1. Overpriced even in low season.
2. Getting a little rundown for the price charged. These are not brand new units.
3. The furniture is also getting rundown.
4. Tiny bathrooms.
5. Tiny TV's.
6. Nothing paved. Got sand everywhere.

We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to returning... Su Ingrid and Martin made us feel very welcome, the accomodations are absolutely clean, and you have all the luxuries of home, but once you walk out the doors, you see the beauty of being in Belize. Gecko's running around, humming birds on our balcony, sting ray outside swimming with you out by the pier. What more can you want for a vacation?

If you dive, don't miss the blue hole. Absolutely worth the price of the tour.

The pool is as beautiful as in the pictures, the grounds are well maintained, and the resort is a small resort, therefore, it is not crowded.

If you are in for the Ritz type of accomodation, this is not the place for you, go to the Victoria House, but if you are in for a more typical Belize type resort, with all the beauty this country has to offer, they this is your place.
