We decided to split our trip and stayed at two different hotels on Amergris Caye. Mayan Princess was the first. I can't say enough great things about the staff. Starting from before our stay, they were so unbelievably patient and helpful, answering all emails in detail. When we arrived, they made countless phone calls on our behalf helping us book our excursions. Any question or request, they were super helpful with a smile on their face. They were so well-trained, that one desk clerk passed along information to the next one so that they could both work to help us. They were just so pleasant, even greeting us by name every time when came and went. The hotel really appreciates and values its guests.

The rooms were swell too. It was practically like a suite, it was so spacious. Every room faces the water and the hammock on the balcony is nice.

I know someone complained about the location prior. The hotel is right in the middle of San Pedro. It is great for excursions and being centrally located for restaurants. There really is only one great beach on the island and no hotels in San Pedro itself have a great beach. You have to go far north to get a more secluded hotel beach. That is not really what San Pedro is about.

The Mayan Princess is my go-to hotel for several reasons: convenient location, friendly staff, and every room faces the Caribbean Sea. When you stay here you are in the heart of central San Pedro and many things are within a short walking distance: dive shops, restaurants, bars, even night clubs if that’s your thing. Security is visible 24 hrs a day so you always feel safe. Front desk staff is quick to respond to emails and they remembered my name every time I passed through the lobby. There is no pool or bar but this hotel couldn’t be more charming, with its small size and friendly staff always there to help you with whatever you need. Having a fridge, small stove and microwave was great so I didn’t have to eat out for every meal and stretch my dollars a little further. Highly recommend an upper floor as the ocean view is beautiful from higher up, and request a hammock for your balcony! Can’t wait to return!

The staff was amazing and helpful.
San Pedro is not a good beach swimming town. Lots of docks and bulwarks in immediate area of hotel limiting water access. Plus, with all the docks there was constant diesel and exhaust fumes preventing us from using the balcony as intended. Great location for bars and restaurants and diving trips.
