We spent ten nights at Banana in B216 beachfront and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The staff went out of their way to help us in every way, And always had a smile. For the price we were extremely happy, The rooms are older,But very clean. The kitchen served us well. Enjoying a glass of wine on the deck in the evening listening to the waves break against the sea wall was very relaxing.
Martini Mondays in El Divino was a blast, Romeo, And Manuel make a great drink, And talking with the locals made us feel like home. Our only regret was we couldn't stay longer.

We stayed at Banana Beach for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The rooms were very spacious and we had a view of the ocean. We left our computer and Iphone out, as well as expensive new dive equipment and cameras and none of the items were bothered. Our room was cleaned every day. It was really nice to have a kitchenette and we saved some money eating most of our meals in our room. The AC worked great. All in all, it was a great place to stay. The only thing that would make it a little nicer would be wifi access in the rooms.

Room Tip: An ocean view is worth the extra money

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Great value for the amount we paid. Our room was spacious and had its own living room with TV, a kitchenette a bathroom and a king size bed. The room was cleaned daily and on time. The staff were very cheerful and helpful. Thanks to Ingrid, Shakira and Mario for putting smiles on our faces. A great thing about this hotel is that it has its very own 'private feeling' beach with beautiful views right in its back yard. The resort also provided us with free beach towels which were cleaned when we wanted, and also paid our cab ride to and from the airport/water taxi. To get to town the resort will rent you mini golf carts or bikes for a fee, and by taxi it is $5US one way. We found this to be a reasonable price considering we could stay in a quiet neighborhood and get to the main strip for a small fee. We were also thankful for the Monkey Business office which helped us book excursions and municipal flights. If ever anyone's interested in excursions the two we did and enjoyed very much were the 'Lamanai' trip where we climbed a Mayan pyramid, and the other which was a 3hour trip snorkeling with sea turtles and with sharks in Shark Alley. Definitely recommend the two which had really insightful tour guides.
After reading other reviews now, I would no consider asking for an ocean view room (as we had a poolside room), but other than that no complaints. San Pedro is a beautiful island, hope you enjoy your stay!

I'm the person whose laptop computer was stolen from a ground level beachfront locked room at Banana Beach last week. Banana's Beach's response to Sonny Disco's post is incorrect. My 14 screen laptop, which is too large to fit into the small floor mounted safe box, was stolen from that locked room. It was never taken out of the room, except early one morning when I sat near Monkey Business to try to get a wireless connection because wireless did not work in the hotel room. That was around 6 a.m. and the computer was put back into the room shortly afterwards. Therefore, I have to assume it was someone who had access to the room who knew of the computer. It was never taken into the restaurant, pool area of bar as stated by Banana Beach. Maybe they were confused about what they referring too because an iPod was also stolen from my room. Clearly someone who had access to the room stole it.

I was at Banana Beach a few years ago and enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately this time the hotel's inability to provide a secure environment for valuables spoiled the vacation and caused me to leave early.

This was our first time to Belize and after searching reviews for weeks we decided on Banana Beach Resort because it met all our requirements... room with a view of the ocean, kitchen in room, clean, near town, pool, and not too expensive. The staff was friendly and helpful - especially the ladies working at Monkey Business. We rented bikes to venture into town in the evenings and also rented a golf cart one day to explore the island. Banana beach is a bit too far to walk into town everyday - thirty minute walk just to Ramons. Our room was clean and we had a balcony that overlooked the beach. This is an older hotel and is in need of some updating - feels like a typical beach resort. Kitchen was nice because we would visit the local fruit stands and buy fresh produce and eggs to make our own breakfasts. The bakery also has great tortillas and sweet breads. Buy local whenever possible - a box of U.S. cereal will cost you $10. - not kidding! We felt very safe at this hotel and security was always present. Like most hotels in San Pedro, there is not really any water access on the beach. However, if you walk south past Mata Rocks there is a pretty good swim beach there. Also just north is a large pier with a great swimming area. Becareful of small stingrays in the water! We saw a man step on one while snokeling off a pier. I would recommend wearing some kind of "water" shoe whenever you venture in the water. Overall, our stay at Banana Beach was what we expected. We would rather spend extra money on one of the many snorkel tours or a great meal than on a "posh" place to stay. We just wish the resort was closer to town so we did not have to spend extra cash to rent bikes or golf cart every day.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for an ocean view room - if possible get one of the corner rooms because you will get extra windows.
