Now there is a restaurant right across the street so we don't have to drive into the village. A new water pump and the other units are finished...this is truly "the place to stay". Owners are wonderful and you can't beat the price. It is a Penthouse Suite...You'll Love it! I want to go back!!

Room tip: Personal Penthouse with views that are jaw dropping!

We stayed at the hol chan resort building from dec 26- Jan 4th. We had 5 adults and a 5 year old. The location is nice and remote. The distance from town meant you had to have a golf cart and the roads were terrible, mostly puddles and holes in the gravel road. The great part is the lack of people, the pools are basically empty as was the beach which was nice and relaxing compared to being in town. We had great help from Richard booking our trips that were fun and appropriate for a 5 year old. The view off the balcony was spectacular. We were in unit 4A and spent a lot of time staring at the ocean. It rained for a short time each day which wasn't too bad. The downside is that you have to go 7-10 minutes via cart to the closest restaurant/grocery store. The near mini mart actually had a good selection of foods and drinks. We survived on run punch and belikin beers. Once the puddles dried up the drive to town wasn't too bad. We cooked a lot of meals. It gets dark pretty early and after a full day in the sun most people went to bed by 9pm.

We mainly went to town for lunches and cooked dinners. Most tours will pick you up from the dock which is super convenient. We were there for 10 days and could have easily stayed longer. The pools were perfect for a 5 year old to practice swimming while the adults either watched the ocean or floated in the pool.

Highly recommend this location as long as you are looking for seclusion. If you want to be able to walk to bars/restaurants then look in town but for peace and quiet you just can't beat hol chan.

Condo is lovely with an incredible view. Bedrooms are well appointed. Ample towels Wifi was spotty.
The management company was lacking in service with the biggest problem, when we requested a taxi for an early morning ride to the water taxi back to the mainland for a flight that never showed up.
The condo was advertised with snorkel gear and a restaurant nearby, neither were available.
The road to the resort is a dirt road with cratered potholes which were small lakes in spots. We chose carefully when to venture out.
Water was amazing !!

We were absolutely blown away with how beautiful and luxurious this resort was. We felt like royalty from the time our host, Richard, opened the door and showed us into our spacious 3rd-floor apartment. There were three large bedrooms (one with an ocean view), three bathrooms, a washer and dryer, a kitchen with dining area, a living room, and a completely furnished balcony overlooking the ocean. We able to fold away the glass doors across the whole front and part of one side to give us a screened-in living and dining room where we could enjoy the beautiful breezes. The pools, including a fun round "conversation pool", were immaculate, and the beach, which had plenty of lounging area, was very well maintained by the staff. The view of Hol Chan Reef from our balcony was a spectacular sight. We were about four miles from town on a very rough, unpaved road, and needed transportation to get just about anywhere. Richard hooked us up with a prompt, reliable, and relatively inexpensive cabdriver (Manuelo?). We used him numerous times to get to and from different restaurants that were located along the road to San Pedro. (Friendly neighbors gave us golf-cart rides to a nearby store for supplies like groceries, rum and beer!) We truly hated to leave, and would certainly recommend this gorgeous resort to anyone looking for beauty, comfort, and privacy.

Just returned from a week stay in San Pedro at Hol Chan Reef Resort. Stayed in unit 1B. Property was in excellent condition, clean with all the amenities as advertised. Pools were right outside the back door and property maintained in great shape. Rented golf carts to drive around in which was a must. Did snorkeling trip to Hol Chan and Shark alley which was awesome. Pick up right at the dock. Also did a reef fishing/Beach BBQ trip, parasailing, and deep sea fishing trip, as well as a trip to the mainland for cave tubing and zip lining. Two closest restaurants were the black orchid and Lone Star cantina which were both really good. Only issue being south of san pedro is the poor conditions of the roads in the area. They were awful and made travel to and from town a very unpleasant experience. Once roads are fixed would recommend to everyone.
