“Delightful & Delicious Holiday at Ramon's Village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2012

I traveled with three friends for a 5 night holiday at Ramon's Village and it was amazing. This was my first trip to Belize and while we struggled with Delta's mechanical problems all day to get there and when we finally did, it was totally worth it! Our friends were already there and picked us up at the airport and had cool drinks waiting for us at a table overlooking the gorgeous water! When our luggage arrived the next day, Ramon's staff simply picked it up and delivered it to our room! The service was incredible and so appreciated.

Our rooms were 56 & 57 with a terrific beachfront view balcony. The room was simple, yet had everything we needed - included a mini-fridge and coffee maker. No TV was not a problem for me, because I didn't want to stay inside on a vacation like this. The shower had plenty of hot water for us at various times throughout the day and housekeeping was wonderful! Wifi was nonexistent in our room, but I did have some connectivity on the balcony. Wifi was great in the restaurant and bar, which is probably for the best because it kept me from being 'connected' all the time. You can hear the upstairs neighbors if they walking hard or running up the stairs, but it didn't bother really us.

We ate almost every meal at Pineapples and the service is fabulous! And the food was pretty good too! I think we tried almost everything on the menu between the four of us and it was usually spot on! We enjoyed talking with the staff and Mark, Roberto, Ron, Jack(Jack-lious), Vidal, Oscar and Joel made us feel right at home! We went on a half-day fishing trip and the restaurant cooked our catches for dinner - and it was absolutely delicious!

Our fishing excursion was booked through Ramon's and our guide Ernest was super fun and knew some great places for fishing. We caught more than enough fish for our dinner that night! We also took a half-day trip on the Reef Seeker Glass Bottom boat with snorkeling to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley and we saw an eagle spotted ray, lobster, crab, grouper, turtles, so much beautiful coral, sharks and I don't even know how many different kinds of fish. Ramon's also booked this excursion for us and our guide Mitch Valdez (with his darling 7 year old granddaughter Anna Louisa, who swims like a mermaid) was amazing. He led us all around the reef and was just a terrific host.

We took a golf cart to town and north to Palapa Bar one morning. We got somewhat turned around on the one way streets but we got the hang of it pretty quickly. Another day we went south to look for the Marco Gonzalez Mayan Site - we didn't find it, but it had rained the day before and the roads were pretty rough and we decided to turn around when we were about 5 miles out of town. But we found a bakery and a wine store while we were out and about!

The weather was really pretty good for this time of the year. I had expected it to be really hot, but we were on the windward side of the island and most of the days were pretty overcast, which made it much cooler and didn't slow us down at all. It rained one day and we stayed in and played cards in the bar and the staff was so accommodating! We spent a few afternoons on the beach and the wonderful Ron took care of us out there - making sure we had everything we needed!

It was a great holiday and I miss it already! I tried to replicate the tropical waffles for breakfast today, and my eggo with pineapple jelly just wasn't the same! I hope to return again soon!

Thanks to everyone at Ramon's Village for making this such a wonderful holiday!

Room Tip: We loved our beachfront room - No. 56. We were facing the beach and next to the restaurant! Take y...

It sounds like your group was adventurous and fun-loving! Our kind of folks, for sure!
Thank you for your very descriptive and thorough review. And thank you for your compliments of specific individuals. A pat on the back seems to make a person's day - thank you for being so gracious! Come back soon, an authentic Tropical Waffle can only be enjoyed at Pineapples!

Fantastic grounds, rooms, bar tenders, dive shop, and a short walk to town. Great having a morning coffee with Ramon. Great breakfast and lunch meals but I prefer spots like Mango's and Hurrican's for dinner. Enjoy

PS - don't stay up North - its a wasteland

June 2012, just got back from Ambergris Cayes. We stayed at Ramons Village where the staff treated us like well loved family. The staff was very knowledgable and the food at the hotel was very good. We tracked dirt into the room, it is kind of hard not to, and the guest room attendant had the room spotless the next day.
I personally had a tough time with the weather, very humid because I went in the rainy season, but Ramons had a fantastic pool and two very large sitting areas high off the ground so the breeze off the ocean was cool and made life bearable.
The hotel owner Ramon continually walked the property greeting and talking with his guests. There was excellent security all around the property. Our hut was just off the beachfront, Ramon's had the cleanest and the longest stretch of beach. I would go back to Ramon's in a heart beat. The airport was close to the hotel, which made it easy and there was very little noise, keep in mind the airplanes landing on the island are just 12 seaters with a propellers so there was no plane noise. Thank you Ramon and Staff!

Room Tip: We had the third hut off the beach and it was perfect. Leave the A/C on and turn the ceiling fan off...

We just returned from 8 days at Ramon's. It has everything you could look for when visiting San Pedro. The proximity to town is important, especially since dining options are limited, especially to the south end of the island. The wait staff in the bar and restaurant are fantastic. Had a great diving experience with the dive masters, but what we learned is that reliability is extremely important and these guys are extremely reliable and professional. We had less than ideal experience with other dive shops. Not to mention that the dive masters were well qualified and a lot of fun. The beach on the island is hit or miss, but their beach is actually very nice. Rooms are great as well. We spent a lot of time exploring the island, and I am convinced that there is no better overall experience on the island.

I stayed at Ramon's to scuba dive the great Belize reef. The resort is very nice, with thatched roof bungalows and a professional dive shop and pier right there. The restaurant was ok, not great. Much better restaurants on the island. I found the breakfast menu very odd. There are over 20 choices but half of them are really the same thing.

All of the staff at Ramon's were very nice. And our dive master and boat skipper were great. BUT... Here's where my review gets bad. The condition of the five rental gear was really substandard. And the dive boats were not great. We had a boat break down on us twice. Once coming back from Belize city on a land excursion and what was supposed to have taken us 1 hour took 3 hours. No marine head and a very uncomfortable ride. And no apologies from Ramon either. I wanted to give this place a great review but because of this I couldn't.
