Lots of well documented exhibits, videos, even a small library. I learned a lot about the history of the town and its industries. It feels like a labor of love by folks who simply love boats and Apalachicola.
My husband is into building wooden boats. The boad workshop was quite small.
We did take a sunset cruise but there was not sunset :(
It was still an enjoyable ride. The boat operator was a storyteller - a 71 yr old former oyster catcher. I had to listen very carefully to understand his southern accent!
My husband lost his wallet on board but it was retrieved the net morning!
Some nice locally made souvenirs and good coffee.
We went thru little museum and were delighted to learn that finally the riverboat has been restored and will be in service soon. We took an excusion up the river and it was really nice with informative skipper.
Lots to learn at this small town museum. You won't be disappointed..Near oyster shucking houses and the river.
This museum has a tremendous amount of information about the local area and the how the Gulf Coast has influenced the area.
We stopped in for a quick tour, which ended up being much more than that! We enjoyed the displays about the former days in the Forgotten Coast. While at the museum, we learned about their various boat tours and dediced to book the sunset cruise for a few days later. That trip was a great value - $35.00 per person for a 2 hour sunset cruise. The cruise is pet-friendly and allows passengers to bring their own food and beverage. We brought our golden doodle; cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine. The boat has built-in tables and cushioned benches which are very comfortable. The boat moves very slowly and there is a "local" who narrates the points of interest along the waterway. The sunset was spectacular from the water and we arrived back at the Museum after dark. A fun evening!
