Best family vacation we have ever experienced. There were 5 of us: Grandparents, Son/Daughter-In-Law and 12 yr old Granddaughter. Never a dull moment. Such an amazing staff. Everyone there could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Our granddaughter made new friends with the other teens on the 1st day and loved the teen counselors. The meals were delicious and portions proved more than we could eat. The horses were matched perfectly to our riding ability. The cabins were so comfortable. The activities were well planned out. And last, but not least, THE VIEWS. Incredible. Our family hopes to return often. On a scale of 1 to 10, this rates a 20!!!!!!

We were worried traveling so far for a week long stay at one place. It had to be good. The team at Rainbow trout ranch out performed all our expectations. Great people all the staff were fantastic genuinely caring and fun they looked after us more like family than guests. The lodge and log cabins are all incredible. The horses were all healthy and obviously cared for well. They were also good natured and incredibly well matched to all of our families different abilities from our 5yr old to two teens and my wife and I. The trails were many and all varied in beautiful vistas terrain and levels of difficulty.
We can unreservedly recommend the Rainbow trout Ranch to anyone.
Can't wait to return.

As Europeans, we were looking for a "true American experience" to have with the kids. We had such a blast. I went from being scared to be on a horse to loping in a week. Everyone was so professional, accommodating and helpful. Everybody, from the owners Doug and Linda to the wranglers, knows your and your kids names from day 1. The scenery we rode on is just stunning. This is the perfect place to disconnect and spend some time with those you love. Also, you sit with other families for the meals which means we got to meet great people we wouldn't have met otherwise, some of whom are still friends a year on. The kids (3 and 7) had so much fun with the other kids, they have been asking us to go back to RTR ever since. Everything is made so that families get to know each other: every night there is an activity everybody is happy to join in, from square dance, to singing, to games, etc. If you want to play that's ok, if you don't, that's ok too. The food was really good and made from scratch (if you are vegetarian, you should let the owners know upfront as there is a lot of meat). The accommodation was spacious and spotless clean. We had an amazing time and would go back anytime.

My vacation to the ranch was beyond my expectations. The lodge and the cabins for beautiful. Three full meals a day that were better that most restaurants served family style so you could sit with other guests or some of the staff and get to know them while enjoying your meal. I hate to call the guests or staff because I felt that we all became family. The quality of horses and the crew that took care of them and the riders were amazing. The trails to ride or hike on were amazing and led to stunning views. I had so much fun that I'm planning a return trip for as soon as possible,.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room at the ranch.

This review is long overdue. We visited in September 2016 during the adults only time. The riding experience was wonderful. The horses were solid and we felt very secure riding them. The fishing was outstanding. In one afternoon my companion caught 17 trout! He went there to fly fish but enjoyed the riding so much he rode every morning and fished every afternoon while I usually rode both times.

The weather was great. Sitting on the porch at the beautiful lodge was relaxing...and what a view. The food was great home cooking and we met the most wonderful guests there. I can truly see why everyone raves about this place. Jane and David head up a well run riding program while you can't help but feel Doug's passion for the old west. And Linda made us feel so welcome. BTW, they never forget your name from the time you arrive until you leave. It may sound a bit corny but you really feel like part of the family.

Going to a dude ranch was never on my list of vacations but that has completely changed. I have told all my friends that if they ever have the opportunity they must come to RTR. We have so many fond memories of this trip but my favorites were riding thru the Aspen Cathedral and standing by bridge over the Conejos watching the horses run out to pasture at the end of the day. If you fly into Albuquerque you must drive thru Georgia O'Keefe country on your way bake. It was incredible to us easterners who had never seen this scenery before. We are looking forward to a return trip here.
