My sweetheart and I stayed five nights at the family-owned Old Turner Inn, in the off season. We had a wonderful suite with fireplace and sunporch. The breakfasts are extremely good, and they serve wine and hors d'oeuvres in the late afternoon. The innkeepers are very friendly and helpful, without ever intruding. The house is old and well-maintained, and very centrally located.

Room Tip: The King Suite is large and gorgeous. All the rooms look beautiful, though; I don't think you co...

After checking out all the B&Bs in Avalon, we decided to stay in the Old Turner, based, in large part, on the reviews here. They weren't exaggerated. This is one of the best B&Bs I've stayed in. All the rooms are nice (I looked), but we stayed in the King Suite. Everything was neat and clean, and had lovely amenities (toiletries, sherry on the mantle, etc.). Several of the rooms have little nooks overlooking the street with daybeds, and all, I think, have fireplaces. The Inn is just slightly off the main drag, about a block, and so is much quieter than the hotels and inns fronting the water. But, it is still very close. Enough so it isn't a long walk. Christa, the manager, is wonderful. She knows just about everything there is to know about Catalina, and gave us great advice. She is also a fine cook. The breakfasts are extensive, and she will cater to your special needs. We stayed for 3 days, and when we return, we'll be staying there again. After just 3 days I felt like I was a member of the family.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice and quiet. There is only one on the bottom floor, next to the living room, b...

What a great place! We visited the island in the off-season, and Christa (inn hostess) treated us like we were rock stars. The breakfasts were killer, the room super cozy and the evening wine/snacks around the fireplace made for a step beyond normal customer service. You could probably pay double at another inn and maybe get a similiar experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Thanks; Dave & Kris

Room Tip: Upstairs best if available

We loved our accommodations at The Old Turner Inn. Breakfasts were truly 5 star and wine and appetizers each day were also above and beyond. Christa certainly does everything to help her guests feel welcome. We had friends who were on a boat in the harbor and she included them at breakfast and "tea time" at no charge. Our room was clean and fine for us but next time I will pick one of the larger rooms. The location is perfect, close to everything.

My wife and I brought my parents here for their 40th wedding anniversary - Kathleen (the owner) could not have rolled out the red carpet more for us. The inn did not disappoint in the slightest way - great breakfast, attentive service, and spacious rooms with sitting areas. Every detail was covered, even making sure that each room had their cherry bottle filled each night for a nightcap! I would ABSOLUTELY return here and look forward to our next visit...
