Having eaten at many of their locations, you get addicted to the food, this service although friendly was slow, no fun watching your food under the heat lamps as waiter walks by,but all else was well. busy location, please put one in SD area

We have eaten at the Black Bear diners in four states and they have consistently great food, large portions at a reasonable price. This store is clean and very well run. There was a wait when we arrived, but it only took a few minutes to get us seated. The service was outstanding and food delicious.

Black Bear Diner is known for a quality comfort meal with generous portions. This visit was for breakfast, and it’s hard to go wrong here. Try their homemade sausage and eggs. You can order mild or spicy. I prefer the spicy. This restaurant is right off interstate 5 before you head up the grapevine. It’s a great location for travelers.

Sunday mornings in town are usually very busy if you don't go early for breakfast. At least once a month we take a drive towards the Grapevine and have breakfast at Black Bear Diner...no crowds, always seated right away and great breakfasts. Service was great this visit and as always we were seated right away. Food was good, with large portions and of course the largest biscuits ever.

After driving through this area 4 or 5 times a year without stopping, we finally decided to have dinner here before heading over the mountain into the basin. Restaurant looks immaculate and is very clean. Service is very good, and our waitress Carol was always checking up on us.
Entrees were delivered before we had finished the soup and salad.
We ordered the Slow cooked Pot Roast and Chicken Fried Steak with one Ice Tea. Total before tip was $30.21.
This is a great place to stop and eat, before or after climbing the Grapevine.
