This place is fantastic - it's a miniature redwood grove right in the center of Arcata. We parked and went for a walk - it's was nice and relaxing.
Big green canopy of huge redwood trees without a lot of undergrowth and we'll maintained trails. This is one of the places I take out of towners as it's easily acessible, right in town and beautiful any time of year.
Great place for a picnic, frisbee in park, and hike redwoods. Super enjoyable and top opportunity to walk in the Giants. If you like trees... This is the place!!!
The community forest is over 2,000 acres. It has many miles of nice hiking trails. Some for hikers only while other have mountain bikes and horses. Most of it is a beautiful redwood forest. I lived on one side of town and walked the part of the trail near there. Now I live in a different part of town and have access to a different part of the community forest a short walk away. Part of the trail connects to Humboldt State University while other parts connect to Redwood Park in Arcata.
I go there almost every day and have different routs I can take for variety.
An amazing park with miles of trails for walking, biking or running. Some trails are single track, some are dirt roads. It's my favorite place to run, but it does have hills. It is as pretty as the local state parks, with no entry fee. The city does some selective logging to pay for park maintenance, but it is very selective and you hardly ever see the logging from the trails.
Great spot adjacent to downtown Arcata, for hiking and mountain biking. None of the big old growth redwoods, but such a lovely resource right in the city.
