“Loved this resort!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2012

We just finished a two night stay here July 5-7. My husbands parents are DVC members since 1994 in WDW. We have stayed at a few WDW properties as well as a trip to DVC Hilton head last month. This property is great!!!!
Check-in: it was quick. Our room was not ready so they gave us our keys and text us hike we were at the park with our suite number. They stored our bags and brought them to our unit very quickly!
The resort: the lobby was gorgeous . Lots of people hanging out talking and the kids of course watching videos on the television . The mission style decor was beautiful. Very representative of Cali. Room keys got you into the pool areas. The resort surround the pool area so it makes it more private. Nice pool lounges and a slide in one.
I loved that you could walk right into grand adventure park. Very convenient with kids!
The only thing I did not like was that the snack shop closed at ten pm, and we came back from the parks wanting food and we could only get room service. Room service was very good. Got the quesadilla and vegetable chowder.
Room: loved it! We had a two bedroom, three bathroom suite. When you walk in the second bedroom was to the left. It included two queens and a full bath. It also had its own balcony. Its set up made it very private. We had the master. The rooms stayed very dark so you could sleep in, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was great, with a slider to open or close so that you can sit in the tub and watch TV or not. Everything was immaculate. The kitchen was small but nice. They have bench style seating at the table, and two stools at the counter. What I found unique was the fold down bed under the television. It is built in to look like the entertainment center base. It folds down to hold a small twin bed. Great for the kids! There is a pullout couch also. I believe that this unit can sleep nine if needed. I also loved that there is a full bath off of the kitchen. This is great for those that sleep in the family room area.
I want to come back again and spend more time at the resort!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. The interior courtyard adds to the privacy.

We stayed here last year and it was so-so. This year while nothing changed about the rooms the staff seemed friendlier and did what they could to make you happy. We had a view of the park and were surprised at how quiet the room was when the doors were closed to the patio. The location was great, especially after a long day at the park. It's alot closer to your room than having to walk all the way to the parking lot. We would stay here again.

Fantastic property within Disney's California Adventure I highly recommend. Comfortable, clean, great hospitality and well appointed. Staff were exceptionally helpful and authentic and as someone with 3 kids agres 14, 12 and 6 who were keen to explore both parks and "hop" between them all day, it couldnt have been a better located hotel. It was also great value as we stayed in 1 room (tight, but doable in a queen, 1 bunk and one pull out) compared to the 2 rooms we normally need to purchase. We'll be back!

We absolutely LOVED staying at the Grand Californian Hotel. We were celebrating a birthday and they made it a wonderful experience. Although he was turning 43, he it was like he was 6. Everyone greeted him with a happy birthday when they saw him. The cake we got from room service was amazing.

As for the hotel, great attention to detail. We had a second floor room, without a view, but it was still wonderful. We couldn't hear anything from the people around us. We were able to enter California Adventure early when we were there and that was a great advantage because we got to ride cars within the first hour of the park being open. The line after the park opened was 3 hours long.

It was a bit expensive, but for a celebration, it was well worth the money.

We highly recommend this resort.

Our first impression was "Where is the door to get in?" The entrance door is painted over with a forest scene and we didn't know it was the entrance until someone came outside to leave. We were there for 6 nights for a convention and were told we were upgraded. It looked like an average room to me with double beds which I am not fond of. Blaring music outside our windows until 11pm and then back on at 7am. Another couple had jackhammers outside their window. I guess we had the better noisy room.

Leave breadcrumbs when you go out for the day, this hotel is huge. Without a rental car, your dining choices and shopping choices are extremely limited to Disney venues.

We also had screaming children next door. I guess that is to be expected here, but not want you want for a convention hotel.

It is expensive. The restaurants and the room cost were high. There is a litte cafe hidden at the end of a corridor with light food, take out food, or just a soft drink that was nicer than the huge breakfasts in the theme restaurant.
