The collection was started by a couple who both worked for US intelligence. They traveled extensively and collected art objects and small arms from around the world. There is a large number of bronzes by many artists, including Remington and Russell. Small arms included guns from the matchlock era through flintlock, percussion, and modern guns. The group we were with spent 2 hours there with a guide from the museum. If we were to go back, we could spend another day going over the exhibits in more detail.

There is alot of history to see here, and its right next door to the Anniston Museum of Natural History, so make a day if it and see natural history and mans legacy/impact on the world at both museums.

This was an outstanding museum. Well worth the trip. Very broad display of artifacts, particularly weaponry. Amazing such a collection exists in the area. Allow about two hours to see everything and have a chance to read enough about what is on display to get an appreciation for the scope of the collection.

I have never seen such a thorough collection of firearms. I am still in awe over what I have seen there. This collection is of the highest quality. I have never been to the Smithsonian but I would venture to guess that they don't have as complete a collection of guns. Extremely impressed. You can purchase your ticket for this and the Natural History museum and it doesn't take long to view them both but you will be happy you did.
