The staff of the JW Marriott is great. The hotel layout can be confusing and I was constantly asking directions. They were very helpful. The room was immaculate ( although the bathroom was quite small) and well stocked. I liked having the Wall St Journal delivered, and having a coffee maker in the room.. It's a short walk to all of the major attractions in DC (Washington Monument, Smithsonian, etc).

Room Tip: check in early (I checked in late in the day, and my view wasn't great). But it was during a co...

I was there for a three-day conference. The location is obviously fantastic right next to the National Wall, White House, etc. The hotel is standard 4-star. You pay a premium for an excellent location and decent accommodations (with smallish bathrooms). Service was friendly.

For a US hotel, the fitness center was pretty good size with plenty of machines in working order. The pool is medium sized--maybe 15 yards long.

Don't be dismayed at the very high prices for booze in the hotel bars and room service. There is an excellent liquor store right outside the hotel. And a CVS around the corner to if you don't want to pay WAY too much for munchies in the hotel store.

WIFI worked well in my room though it wasn't free.

Positive Surprises. Cool elevator system where you type in your floor destination before you get into the elevator and your told which elevator to get into. Apples and fruit provided in fitness center and pool were fresh and good.

We went here for our daughters volleyball tournament that was held at the convention center 10 minutes away. The location is ideal if you want to be close to all the monuments, but parking is a hassle. When you give your car to the valet they take it to a parking garage and you don't know where it is, so you have to make sure you get everything you need out of the car. The lobby is stunning and huge. The front desk was very helpful and kind. Bellhops and valet men were also very nice and helpful. If you get a room with a view like we did you will be blown away. You are looking right into town and looking directly at the Washington Monument. At night its spectacular. But, we got a second room because being a family of 5 squishing in one room is not an easy task. The room across the hall just looked at a brick wall. If you get a room without a view the hotel is then nothing too special. Just an ordinary hotel room. We went out to breakfast the first morning. We met my nephew, his wife and there daughter. It came to TWO hundred dollars for breakfast. That was insane, eat off site by all means. Room service for the kids was reasonable though for dinner. Overall a good stay with amazing views and an beautiful, but expensive hotel.

Spent three nights at the Marriott and noted that it caters for big groups and conferences. Has some nice features such as its location within walking distance to the museums and White House, an on site Starbucks, breakfast was pleasant but not outstanding. Very generic big hotel experience in a safe central location. I would recommend the hotel albeit showing its age now.

Room Tip: not all rooms have in-room safes so make sure at check in that you have one in your room.
