Nice rooms and the typical Ritz great service. The door man is very friendly and helpful as is the rest of the staff. The location is excellent; walking distance to a number of very good restaurants and minutes to the airport (assuming light traffic). I anticipate that we will stay at this hotel on our future visits to DC.

I would really give this hotel 4.5 points if I could. It's very nice, and the rooms are large but there are a few things I would change. Our room was nicely decorated but seemed slightly empty - another chair would have fit in well and filled the room up a bit. (I don't get it that most hotels with 2 beds or a king size bed for 2 guests, only put 1 comfortable chair in a room.) Also, the lighting was low - it was difficult to read at night. Finally, the bureau was very strange. It looked normal from the outside, but the depth of the drawers were very shallow so there wasn't much room to store your clothes.

The service here was really great - every employee included. Food in the restaurant and lounge was excellent. The concierge recommended some very good restaurants in the area, but food and service at the Ritz was even better.

I've stayed here a number of times, and it's always consistent. Most of it is very good. The service (except for room service) is great. The location is tremendous as you can walk to everything. The rooms are fine, cell service is spotty for some reason, and the configuration of the hotel is odd but in an intriguing and somewhat appealing kind of way. As an Amex Centurion member, this is always recommended. The last time I stayed here was last weekend with a couple of rooms and we enjoyed it.

The Ritz Carlton is an outstanding choice in Georgetown. The staff is wonderful and if you are in Washington to visit Georgetown, the location can't be beat. My only qualm with the hotel is its physical configuration. If you are staying in rooms in the west wing of the hotel, there is no direct elevator access from the lobby. Because the building is a converted industrial facility, there can be a fair amount of travel within the building to get to your room from the lobby. Other than that inconvenience, the physical plant is spotless and the rooms are in excellent condition. If you like to run, there is a great run along the river to the monuments and the staff will greet you with a bottle of water and a towel. The restaurant and bar are great, but this is Washington DC and you will probably be staying with some dignitaries and their body guards.

Room Tip: As I mention in the write-up, rooms in the west wing are not as convenient in terms of access, but t...

As long as you don't plan to drive to it, the location in the middle of Georgetown--1 block from shops and restaurants, 1 block from the river, and almost on the C&O canal--is ideal. The welcome from staff is almost overwhelming, but they clearly focus on this. The premium rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. While ours had a Bose home theater set and a standard honor bar, there was no coffee maker, and wifi was available only with an annoying fee.

The building was originally an incinerator, and a couple of elements survive, such as the control room for a crane. Degrees is the name for the restaurant, where breakfast was well-made (even the hollandaise) and prompt, but pricey.

If attentiveness makes you feel very pampered, then this is probably your luxury spot.
