Hilton Garden Inn Washington, DC Downtown
Ranked #60 of 141 Hotels in Washington DC
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 16 July 2012

This hotel is in a great location. If you take the Metro in from Regan Airport it comes up just across the street at the McPerson station. It cost $7.00. The hotel staff is wonderful. Pool is tiny but enough to get you cooled down.
The room are roomy and well laid out.

The breakfast we though was way to expensive unless you like to eat a lot for breakfast. We walked two doors down to a COSI restaurant and it was much less expensive and better food.

The hotel is in walking distance to the Mall. There are some slight hills so if walking is an issue take a cab.

We started our trip in DC and ended in DC after our two week tour of the Virginia Area. Both stays at the hotel were equally great.

Starbucks a block away, and a great little Italian restaurant around the corner next to the park.

Room Tip: Try to get a room off of 14th Ave it is a little noisy.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
FYI, for others, the metro costs roughly 3.50 per person from Reagan ($7 for two). Also, we do offer a breakfast buffet as well as a la carte options if you want a smaller breakfast.
Thank you once again for the great feedback, and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to seeing you again if you're back in town!

We just returned from a weekend in DC and I have to say that for the price and location, this hotel was an excellent choice! The only negative that I could come up with was low water pressure on the 14th floor on Sat. night at 6pm but even that wasn't bad enough for me to reduce my overall rating. All of the prior posts cover the details so I won't repeat them; I will just say that the reviews and rating are spot-on... and I hope that they don't escalate their nightly rates because their ranking went from #18 to #16 in 3 days! We have family that live a few blocks away so we will definitely be back!

There is nothing negative to report about this hotel. However, I was certainly expecting something more based on the wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor The hotel was nice, rooms about average and breakfast very good. In my experience, the hotel staff was professional, but not particularly helpful, except for the gentleman at the front desk who arranged for a late check out on the last day of my stay.
Not sure I would stay here again...

Based off reviews we read here on TripAdvisor, we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on our recent trip to Washington DC with our twin 6 year olds. We decided to park outside the city and take the Metro into downtown. This worked out perfectly, because the hotel is directly across the street from the McPherson Square Metro station. Super convenient! We arrived at the hotel a few hours prior to check-in, but they were very helpful at the front desk and offered us bottled waters (it was 100 degree outside that day). We were able to leave our luggage with the bellhops and head out to start exploring the city while they got our room ready.

Our room was perfect. Standard size room that you would expect from this type of hotel. It was clean with no issues. The hotel has a pool in the basement that we used two of the three nights we stayed there. It is small, but was never crowded so the size was not an issue. All the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We did bring our truck into the city on our last night and used the hotel valet parking service. The next morning, we called down for our car and by the time we were downstairs in the lobby, our truck was already ready and waiting out front for us.

We would highly recommend staying here. Besides being close to the Metro, it is only a few blocks from the White House and the National Mall.

Room Tip: The lady at the front desk told us that the rooms towards the back of the hotel can be noisy and she...

Everyone at the front desk and housekeeping that we dealt with were VERY VERY nice, and accommodating. The temperature was nearing 100 degrees when we checked in, so they gave us all a free bottle of water, for which we were grateful. The whole time we were there, we were treated politely and with a smile.

The hotel pool is heated, but very small. Having 6 people or more in it at once felt crowded! The pool is maybe 12 feet by 18 feet. The shallow end was 3 feet, while the deep end was 5 feet. That part was fine with me. There was no hot tub.

We had no trouble sleeping, as we weren't bothered by street noise or others though we were on only the second floor. Lousy view, but we didn't care.

The Grist restaurant was in teh hotel. Expect to pay about $10-$15 per entree, which seemed to be the going rate. Their food was very good. I recommend the gaspacho!

Room Tip: We were on the second floor away from the street. It was quiet, and each room had its own air condit...
