“Very unusual”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

Was very surprised by the layout, almost maize- like with something different around every turn. Too bad the Park Service had no brochures available. Actually visited twice. Missed the best statue of FDR with his dog Fala first time around. I thought it interesting that one of the statues show FDR in a wheel chair. Don't think I've ever seen that before, not even at Hyde Park. Interesting use of stone and water features.

“A lovely memorial”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

A very pleasant memorial, a little more off the beaten path of the mall. It's very interesting and well done. Moving through the spaces and reading all the qoutes is worth the time, I believe it's more engaging than some of the other memorials.

“The most beautiful memorial in DC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

At the suggestion of a DC resident, I went to this memorial and was blown away by the beauty and design. As a fan of FDR, I loved it. Don't overlook this most beautiful memorial when you visit the Lincoln and Martin Luther King memorials.

“A different kind of memorial”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

FDR Memorial is unique. Staged in different sections representing different points of his long presidency, the design of the memorial gives a feel to what was current at that time. And memorable quotes of his from each period. Not as accessible as most other Smithsonian properties, best seen combined with Jefferson Memorial, near to it on the tidal basin.
