This is a massive, grand building. One can take various pictures, ranging from far away to up-close. Also be sure to make the hike to the back of the building which is equally impressive.

We took a tour on this one and it was absolutely enjoyable. So much history and much more to see but unfortunately for us both the Congress and Senate were closed on Saturday however everything else was worth the trip. A note, food here is far better than most other places around the Mall.

I would recommend going online and booking the tour in advance. You can do it online or through you local congress member or senators office. I opted to do it online as it was the easiest way to do it. You will be emailed on what you cannot bring in and what to expect. We were there over Easter, which can be quite busy, but there was no line to get in. Before the tour we walked through the Exhibition. It gives the history of the creation and expansion of the building. The tour is an hour long with a 13 minute introduction video. It is an excellent video which gets you into the spirit of what can be accomplished in the building. The tour takes you to the crypt, the Rotunda and the Statuary room. After the tour you can take the underground tunnel to the library of Congress.

So cool to finally see this in person! Everything is gorgeous and history is at every turn. Definitely add this into your 'must see' in D.C.

Located underground in front of Capitol building. Don't miss this gem prior to touring Capitol itself. Attended a Congressional Gold Medal presentation in its beautiful and impressive Emancipation Hall. Worth the visit on your way into the Capitol.
