This one of many state parks along Lake Superior north of Duluth on US 61. Like every other state park in Minnesota there is a $7 per person day use fee. My wife & I were there on a summer Saturday & the place was jam packed with people. You can do a lot of hiking here but there are better scenic attractions in the area.

My husband and I departed Saturday July 21st from Northern Illinois on a 9 day trip that would take us up the North Shore of Lake Superior and into Canada. We stayed the first night at the municipal campground in Two Harbors, MN, then we stayed one night at Tettegouche, one night at Temperance River, two nights at Cascade River, and two nights at Sleeping Giant State Park in Ontario, CA. (See reviews on all the above listed state parks if you desire).

Tetteguche was the first MN state park we camped in. We have a 24 foot travel trailer, and stayed in site 4. It was very secluded. From our campsite, you could not see any other campers. Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night because we didn't book far enough in advance. This campground only has 34 sites.

As far as hiking goes, we were able to hike Two Step Falls and High Falls via a trailhead that commenced in the campground. Both destinations were worth it! Quite a few stairs for each hike, so if you have mobility issues, the hike probably isn't for you.
We also hiked Shovel Point, which commenced at the visitor's center. Shovel Point is a relatively easy hike with a rewarding overlook.

If we return to Tettegouche, we hope to spend more than one night there! It's a beautiful park!

Very nice campground, the campsites are very private, bathrooms are clean, and great hiking trails. Book way in advance if you want to stay more than one night or at all.

We love Tettegouche! Park at the visitors' lodge and take the short walk to Shovel Point, or a longer one to the High Falls (beautiful). We had our aged dog with us (on leash, natch), and the ups and downs made it a bit hard for her—otherwise, it's a great hike with wonderful views of the river & falls.

Great hiking options with variety of lengths and difficulty. Enjoyed the waterfalls as well as forested hikes. We did not camp but the camp ground has great private, wooded sites! We will be back!
