Nice visitor's center with helpful employees. Ample parking available. Free. Trail to Cascade Falls had a couple slippery rough areas due to recent rain. Hiking boots and hiking stick needed. Distance is less than a mile.

Stopped with the family and hiked to two step and high falls. Our kids ages 11, 9 and 5 all enjoyed the hike as it's not too strenuous although there are a lot of stairs for those not used to climbing a lot of stairs. The payoff of the falls is definitely worth it.

There's also some decent agate hunting at the end of the river.

While visiting MN my husband wanted to take nature photos and Tettagouche came highly recommended as a place he should go. We were not disappointed! The intense foliage, wonderful smells and the High Falls were a treat to our senses. Being from CO we considered this an easy hike (we could breathe!).

Huge visitor center with restrooms, seating areas inside and out, gift shop and very helpful park staff. We purchased a MN one day park pass ($7) that allowed us to park in a specific parking lot for a closer walk to High Falls (1.4 versus 3 miles round trip, which is worth it for families with younger children. This pass also allowed us to the closer parking area at Palisade Head. High Falls was great, we spent a very enjoyable time wading around at the falls (water shoes would have been nice as the creek bed is rocky). We had taken a towel, but had not put on bathing suits. Many folks there were swimming and even jumping off the rocks to the right of the waterfall. There were a lot of steps (we counted 211) down and back, but we thought it was worth it. We did not do the extra mile (round trip) to Two Step Falls. We also drove to the upper parking area at Palisade Head. Parking was at a premium, but we managed to find a pull in space by the overlook. Many folks were parallel parking along the narrow, steep access road - thank goodness we had a small car. The views were fabulous. We spent some time scrambling around on the rocks to the south of the parking area and watching some of the rock climbers.

I've never been to a state park with so much traffic! We visited on a Friday, and it was hard to get a spot in the parking lot. The views are spectacular, and the trails are well-maintained. I'd love to come back and camp here!
