We had a hire car & drove in quite easily. The road was fine & dry. We had a great time here and 2 nights was not enough to unwind fully but it was enough time to do almost everything the island has to offer, at a relaxed pace. It was TOO hot to walk so we drove everywhere & explored all over. The food was pretty bad even by Cuban standards but edible. After you take a safari jeep ride to see all the fabulous African wildlife you can dine on Impala for dinner! YEP! *0* It was overcooked & dry!
The safari guide only speaks Spanish! i think it was 9CUC + tip. The room was huge, very clean & serviced every day.
Lunch at the beach restaurant was a good smorgasbord but make sure you don't wait too long to help yourself because there are hungry catamaran day tourists, then they pack it up quickly.
it's a beautiful pristine beach around the restaurant & you can easily get away from the 30 or so day people. there's lots of other beaches to explore but we chose to relax on this one after lunch as we were the only 2 people there once the 2 boats left at about 3pm ... heaven!
don't forget to tip the waiters because they don't get many people on the island & little opportunity to make money.
There were only 2 other couples & a family of 4 staying on the island with us. The only time we saw them was at the dining room during breakfast & dinner so it was VERY peaceful. There's no pool because the beaches are stunning. There's an outdoor pool table & it was fun playing with the local workers (electricians) at night. My friend is Cuban so we all had a lot of fun drinking & playing pool. they were very polite & respectful young men - just like all of the Cubans I met.

This is a fabulous day trip by catamaran - you get picked up at your hotel + taken to the port to get the catamaran - then about 1.5 hours on board + you get to snorkel + see lots of tropical fishes !! It's an open bar - woo hoo, then when you get to the island you get a fabulous lunch - pizza, pasta, chicken, beef, salads etc!! It's really good value!!
You can also choose to go on a safari - if your with TC they don't advise you to go because the jeeps are old - but we went + it's fabulous !!

Very nice small (12 rooms only) hotel - villa on small cayo which is full of animals. Rooms are very very nice for cuban standard, very spacy and whole hotel complex is well equipped, and very quiet. We arrived by car from Baracoa, wow, this is crazy during first 50km road between Baracoa and Moa (driving speed like 20kmph max). Last 10km prior you reach island is unpaved and of course 4km road on island is unpaved too. You must count with delays, but it is worth for. We arrived around sunset and first we saw was couple of camels just on the road and Zebras around hotel. Then we have got very nice welcome coctail and very nice room. We already had dinner but restaurant in hotel offers chicken dinner from 6CUC (and many other options), beer for 1,5CUC so no problem to dine here. Breakfast was not so good but it was enough not to be hungry and it was included in room price. Morning safari for 18CUC pp you can miss if you have own car, places you are taken, you can see by driving your own car across island (even small car rental Geely), it is definitely worth for to do it with your own car, you see lot of animals. Best time is early morning around 7am and late afternoon around 5-6pm. I read about how nice is beach here, but to say truth, nothing special. Beach is quite small even we were like 8 people only there until 11am when 2 big catamarans with like 70people arrived :( Big waves did not allow to swim and even local lifeguard confirmed, there is no place with coral reef directly accesible from beach for snorkeling. Beach restaurant is quite pricy, buffet lunch for 12-15CUC. Good Offline maps for Cuba including island are for Android MAPS.ME

To get to hotel you have that sinking feeling as you leave civilization behind, then get onto a dirt track, then a tropical storm, the roads flooded, road slippery, not certain of what to come. Oh boy what a Hotel, by Cuban standards this is 5 star and a bit, Staff are welcoming, smiling and happy to help. Rooms are very large chalet type, almost South African safari in style. Rooms have king size double bed plus 2 singles, chairs, a small table, Fridge with ice cube tray takes about 6 hours to freeze., TV radio etc. Bathroom is a little tired but OK, hot water as normal seems to depend on how sunny it is outside. Rooms are clean. Food is OK with a choice in our case of a la carte, non veggie . There is a small wild beach no seats etc within a few minutes walk plus a beach with loungers and restaurant a short transfer away.
Wildlife abounds, many different birds, lizards, butterflies, dragonflies, turkey vultures. No WIFI, plugs in room 110 v mixed US/Euro, plug in bathroom 220v mixed US/Euro. Staff are excellent, breakfast basically eggs and toast and mango marmalade and fruit juice, plus coffee with/ without milk.
Safari ride can be a bit manic but still fun.
Hotel 4.5. and a hidden treasure

Room Tip: WE had one of chalet style accommodation so could sit on the veranda sip gin and tonic and watch the wildlife.
