We've been in New Zealand for almost three weeks and I have to say that the Green mussels were the best meal I've had this entire trip. They are served in a cream coconut sauce with chili and coriander, (cilantro in the states). My wife had the eggs benedict and she thought they were by far the best in our time here too. The service was a little slow, but it was entirely worth the wait. There are great views of the bay from the restaurant.

Popped in before departing Picton for a late brekkie. Ordered the eggs Benny, which were sublime. Lovely presentation, fresh ingredients, healthy-sized portion of ham, and the hollandaise sauce was out of this world! The crusty bread was a bit hard to cut with a butter knife, though, and we would have been well served with something sharper. The blend of coffee was a delicious treat and we were served our coffees very quickly. The full menu looked fantastic; wish we had time to try more items! Also, relatively cheap compared to other restaurants in the area but maintains good quality food.

The service itself was satisfactory. You order at the counter and then bring your own utensils, water, napkins, sauce, etc. The waitresses on duty were relatively friendly and performed their duties well. However, with such a prime location and a large seating area just in front of the pristine blue waters of the sounds, *some* table service would be nice (e.g. checking on the table's food, offering water or beverages, removing dirty plates).

Overall, a nice cafe. Would become a regular if I lived in the area. However, if you're looking for a more formal experience, maybe have a second thought.

After waiting 10 minutes to be seated, we asked a waitress whether it was ok to sit down at a nearby table. After getting the go ahead, we then waiting a further 10 minutes for the table to be cleared and to be given the menus. We were in draughty spot so we decided to move to the corner, when the head waitress came over with an attitude, and when we asked whether we could see the menu, she replied 'we'll maybe we can set the table first' and then walked away ignoring us once again. We decided to walk out after being spoken to like that, despite the food looking good. Very disappointing.

I guess the fact that my partner and I have had 5 meals here in the last two weeks says a lot. Breakfast and lunch are more casual than dinner but this café has few pretensions and the staff just want you to enjoy the wine and food. Wine by the glass offers a varied selection of Marlborough vineyards, as does the Brody list of bottles. Sea breeze has possibly the best grilled fish and chips I' be ever had- fish was grilled, moist and flavor some, the chips crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy at first bite. The pork belly "roll" was delicious. We started each lunch and dinner sharing a plate of oysters- Sydney eat your heart out. They were creamy, briny, with just a hint of iodine. What a treat!
Hard to go past fish and chips but the fish cakes were a superb melding of smoky fish, onions, garlic and flaky potatoes all served with a green salad to die for.
Never got to the deserts....

After arriving on the ferry, we wandered up the street and found this spot with outdoor seating and a nice view.

We enjoyed the salmon spread (had to ask for extra bread, because there was so much tasty spread), a glass of wine, and a beer. All for $30.

Service was efficient and friendly.

When I went inside to pay, I realized how busy the place was. The bar had standing room only, so very popular!
