Stayed here for one night in camper van site overlooking the town. Fantastic site for views with power and water. Amenities were clean with great hot showers. As men's amenities were being painted the boys had a hike uphill to other amenities in drizzly rain. TV lounge had Sky which was great for rugby fans. Walk into town was 500m downhill but is a steep return hike requiring a level of fitness. If intending to come back at night bring a torch or use flashlight on phone as not all lights on path were working.

The unit was very basic but kitchen area seperate which was good. Very cold and took a while to heat up but electric blankets helped and bed was comfy. Large flat screen tv for the dark evenings. Own deck area for sitting out if weather allows. Great view of the harbour.

We stayed here for one night on the first night of our South Is. campervan tour.
Naturally, being our first night from Christchurch we hadn't any other holiday parks to compare it with so were really blown away by the views we got from our camper site. Right on the edge of the park overlooking the town of Akaroa and stunning harbour.
Being mid April there were not many other campers there and as we subsequently made a habit of arriving mid afternoon at all our destinations we got the pick of some good sites.

The girl in reception was lovely and friendly and let us choose our site. We backed in and lapped up the views while sitting in our camper having a drink.
We didn't eat down in the town as it was too expensive and pretentious, trying to be "French".

We cooked in the van and enjoyed the views at sunset...much nicer...and cheaper!

From memory all the amenities were fine but a bit old and in need of some maintenance but as we were self contained we only used the shower and toilet to save the camper.

There was, however, a very sharp ditch at the edge of the road which we had to drive over to our site and needed some 'infil' in the way of some old timber fortunately lying around to stop bottoming out.

The park is set high up a steep road but this is what commands a great view. There is a walk track down to the village from the park but it tests out your fitness coming back up. Instead, we parked our camper down in the town up a back street as they discourage campers in the main street area. Fair enough.

We thought the tariff of $44 per night was a little on the high side for a slightly off peak time but guess the views and the fact that it is the only park in town makes it a 'take it or leave it' place.
They charge (like most parks in NZ) for internet or WiFi and it's quite expensive. We had our own mobile Telecom broadband stick which served us well on the laptop.

Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and probably would come again but not by the sounds of it in peak holiday times.

Room Tip: check before you intend to arrive.

We stayed here for one Friday night while day tripping from Christchurch after work. Having been to Akaroa before we just wanted a nice easy relaxing evening where we could just get away from the city but unfortunately it didn’t go as smooth as hoped.

We arrived at the holiday park and got checked in, all easy going with no issues but unfortunately when it came to trying to get our camper van in to the tent site they had given us, it wasn’t going to happen as there were no lights at all and even the other tents/vans said not to bother its too much like hard work because of the tight access and everyone was cramped in. After struggling for 10 mins we drove back up and got a new spot. This time it was on top of a mound and had to drive sideways at 45degrees and thought the van was going to tip over.

We persevered and tried to park up but the van was stuck and sliding down he hill in to the bushes at the bottom. We couldn’t see a thing!!!!! it was an utter nightmare. eventually i managed to get the van out of the bushes and drove away straight out of the holiday park looking to get other accommodation. We stopped, grabbed dinner then eventually decided to just come back and park in any level spot... We took a power site near the toilet/showers (which were terrible too compared to other Top 10 sites) and then got some sleep.

Other issues were that the internet Wasn't free as advertised. The pool was closed and the noise of RV's trying to get round corners designed for small cars kept us up.

Good points are the views and close proximity to town.

Won't be back i'm afraid.
Steve & Leanne

Room Tip: For ease of parking up, i suggest all unpowered campervans choose a powered site to save time and stress.

We stayed here in our campervan for two nights towards the end on March 2012. We had to pay a bit extra for a site overlooking the town and harbour, but it was worth it. I thought the campervans were packed in quite tightly on the sites overlooking the town, the rest of the park didn't seem to have that problem. I was actually quite pleased we were hemmed in between two larger vans during a bad storm on our first night. My thoughts were that the individual sites were marked out before the bigger vans became so popular.
The facilities were beginning to get a bit tired looking but as there is no other holiday park I guess they have a bit of a monopoly. Very friendly and helpful young man in reception and I loved the idea of an adult only tv lounge - not that I saw anyone using it.
The pathway from the holiday park seems a good idea - until you have to climb back up the hill. We took the campervan down into the town on our second day, and parked it in a large carpark.
At this site it is definitely the view that you pay for.
